I just had a few questions about Bell phone plans.
1) I recently had a HUP and changed my phone plan around a bit. I was looking at my account online and under individual features, it says "BPS HUG Fee Waiver". What is that and what does it mean?
2) Also, I was wondering if there are any differences between BB + smartphone data plans, versus regular smartphone data plans (aside from being able to use BB services) and if so, what are these differences?
Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks everyone!
The answer to your second questions is quite ambiguous at this point. Bell's official position is no, if you use a BB data plan with a non BB smartphone you will incur PPU charges. However, some in this forum have reported that they've been able to use their BB plans on non BB smartphones provided you enter a specific APN, others have tried that and still incurred PPU charges.
I wouldn't recommend using a BB plan on a non-Berry device unless you really know what you're doing and have a phone or device that allows you to manually manage APN settings. When I tried doing so on an iPhone, "normal" on-device data didn't work at all (an error popped up stating that I am not subscribed to an internet service). Tethering data (which iPhones call "personal hotspot") was charged a scary pay-per-use rate. Be careful and test with a few KB first! It's far from the approach of Rogers and Fido.
As for your other question, you'll have to let a knowledgeable corporate user chime in.
