The Verizon label could be that it is just old inventory (was already on the box etc.). You could look around for "Fiber Optical cable here" marking posts.
Does this site have 3G? if not it will soon probably lol.

I haven't seen any 'fiber optic cable here' markings, but right at the end of the access road there are two brand new green boxes that have a signs next to them saying "Critical underground communications cable"...."Underground facilites here"...

It doesn't have 3G, yet.
It might be copper based... does Frontier even have Fiber out there in that area (like along that road or neighboring roads).
I'd say you are getting 3G then at some point this half.

There is frontier fiber running down a state trunkline road (M-68) about a mile away. This fiber I believe branches off to provide T1's to the Verizon cell site, which is located about 1/2 mile away from this AT&T site.
AT&T keeps telling me July 15th or earlier for 3G on this site. They looked into the history and I guess it's ready for "UMTS construction".
New AT&T site in Condon, MT. Co-lo on CellularOne's tower. Area covered was already covered by CellularOne (though despite the lower tower position, AT&T seems to reach further, presumably due to being 850MHz). Sadly they did NOT co-lo on the CellularOne tower at Garrison Junction (also in the same valley and currently not natively covered by AT&T)
More of my thoughts and opinions on can be found on my blog. I also love face painting. Finally, I like to post photos on Flickr. Smilez, Mark.
TWX, who is the landline provider where you live? I may take some site pics today to post on here from around my area.
I'm not TWX (obviously lol), but we have two landline providers in Mendocino County, AT&T (formerly Pacific Bell, formerly Pacific Telephone) covers everything from Willits and Fort Bragg south, while Verizon (formerly GTE, formerly Contel) covers everything north of there. Anyway, just chiming in.
Edit-Interestingly, that line I mentioned is almost exactly smack dab in the middle of the county, and while the entire county is rural the northern part covered by Verizon is the most rural and least populated of the county.
We have Frontier through most of Southern Illinois. Verizon kept some around however for LTE where they currently have it deployed in Southern Illinois, mainly in the Carbondale-Marion area.

Fraydog, the landline provider here is now Frontier Communications (formerly Verizon). I talked to an AT&T RAN Engineer late last week when he was in our local Radio Shack & he said there is a massive push this year to get 3G turned on all EDGE-only areas. He said that all of northern MI would have been all 3G last year, but the T-Mo deal put all the funding on hold. So now this year they are planning to kick it up a notch.
I haven't seen much AT&T tower activity yet in my area, but since it's been so warm, I'd assume that they will get an early start this year.
