I thought it would be interesting to see how VM's throttle (beginning March 1, 2012) will affect its current users. I realize that a "throttle thread" was already started but there isn't once which breaks it all into easily-readable data (poll).
*Please don't turn this into a tetherer vs non-tetherer thread, there is a separate thread for that.
For those on the 25 a month plan, 2.5GB is overly generous.
It's a fair, competitive allowance.
T-Mobile is 70 a month on prepaid to get 5GB before throttle.
Last I heard T-Mobile was $30 a month for 5GB of 4G data. Although I can tell you're still using the VM website's propaganda numbers
What is more, you're making me sound like I'm demanding something unfair. That's funny (read: inaccurate); I'm only asking for my grandfathered plan to retain its original worth.
Sprint/VM USA/Boost Mobile is fair and competitive with 2.5Gb of DATA for FEATURE PHONES. However when the churn rate delivers a sobering kick to their prepaid nads they will soon revisit their poor data throttle decision or suffer continuous lackluster sales results. To go from prepaid market leaders to prepaid market failures would not come as a surprise, unless they introduce products and services that could overcome such awful data service moves.

P R E P A I D is just another way to offer (and pay for) premium services and devices.
I'll be straight up about it. 2.5 gb is generous . Anyone who needs more then that at full speed should pay extra. It's always the whining data hogs who wreck it for everyone. They're the reason why the throttle is implemented to begin with. Deal with it.

This isn't the first time you've stated that. If you don't like it then keep it in the proper thread, this isn't it.
This thread is just another copy of the tethering morality thread. It'll get bloated with the same users going round and round making their same points and horrible analogies and complaining that their service is changing and they don't like it. Close this thread now before your forced to later mod.

Your right but can you make 100 minutes work? I doubt most can and they reason they hang on.
Your asking for something that is going away on all the carriers except Sprint postpaid and Verizon prepaid. I can imagine how mad those stuck in a contract must be. Unfair or not, it's just the way the industry is going.
While I can see Sprint hanging on to truly unlimited data to differentiate themselves for the time being, I don't believe that will be forever.

Reporting a post works best to get my (or other staff members') attention.
EVERYONE:
If you want to argue about tethering morality, use the thread created for that discussion. If you want to argue about the data cap, use the thread created for that discussion.
In this thread, post only if and how the implementation of a data cap will affect you. I do not think that is too much to ask (and the op already asked that of you too).
Have you read the rules lately? They're usually in a sticky at the top of the page.
If you have a problem with a post for any reason, please report it rather than responding to it, and a moderator will be along shortly.
Throttling won't affect me because I get those speeds already and already set up to switch to Tmobile. I never tethered until I received my new Tmobile HTC Sensation because it doesn't have service yet. I justfiy tetherering to another phone simply because I'm using it as I would with my VM phone however with a much better device. Since there's no contract, I feel like I am not doing anything wrong for this short time.

Well I was thinking more of data than minutes; theoretically on 4G you could use just about any VoIP service to get minutes too.
But you're right, Sprint is following the VM data destruction model to a T. Here's a look at it (and what's happened so far)...
VM Mobile Broadband:
1. Raise prices
2. Cap data at 2.5GB
VM Phones:
3. Raise ("change") prices
4. Cap data at 2.5GB
Sprint Mobile Broadband:
5. Change prices
6. Cap data
for me it is a little low. I am in the car around 50 min to a hour a day. in that time. I use sirius app or google music. this uses about a gig in 10 days including other use. I do not tether but I don't belive I am a data hog. 3 gigs would work for me.. is it too much to think I should be able to stream music in the car? is that not the point to owning a smartphone?
