I do not tether but I don't belive I am a data hog. 3 gigs would work for me.. is it too much to think I should be able to stream music in the car? is that not the point to owning a smartphone?

You should still be able to stream music fine @ 256Kbps

Well currently out of 30 votes 1 is leaving which is about 3% and that person tethers.

I don't believe it will affect me at all. I tracked my usage last month and I used about 1GB. And I even if I DID go over, my speeds are seldom much over 300kbps so the reduced speed will likely not be noticed.

Throttling wont effect me at all since my main phone is the Curve. This answer would have been different a month ago before I gifted both my Optimus and Triumph to family members.

How many people regularly get over 256kbps?

Either way, at $25/mo, 2.5GB is plenty.

If I were them I would have said:

    $25/mo plan = 1GB
    $35/mo plan = 2GB
    $40/mo plan = 2.5GB
    $45/mo plan = 3GB
    $55/mo plan = 4GB

At least some incentive to move to a higher plan and gain ARPU...
    Home ISP, RR-Turbo WiFi, $80/mo | Verizon 4G, $30/mo Unlimited

    School, $5,000/semester | Work

But if they did that, grandfathered users wouldn't be screwed, see... We could request our original unlimited plans

I'm sure your idea might Ting to Sprint prepaid sometime though.

Wont affect me. The speeds even without the throttle here are pathetic. 180/124 is the FASTEST I have ever recorded. I stay because while it is slower than molasses I can still access everything I need/want for only $25

They can still sell it as "unlimited" but throttle at the above speeds.

I know, I thought it was really ironic that they are limiting it to 256. It would be an upgrade for me if they could guarantee that it was 256 all the time. I'm lucky to hit more than 150 most of the time, though according to the upgrade schedule (if you can believe it at all) most of the towers in my area will be getting a speed upgrade in the next 6 months.

I already left because the throttle wasn't going to affect me because I could barely get those speeds to being with.

I don't know whether this should go into the "service is sucking" section or not, but...

Just a couple days ago coverage took a massive crap around my house. There's a highway between two cities where I used to get full bars, now it's from 0-2 if I'm lucky. The other day I tried making a call, and still within mild coverage I got a "Network busy" error.

Is that just a coincidence, or is Sprint really saying "too bad" to their cheapest prepaid users? Is it possible I'm getting booted off first?

    Tower upgrades can do that.

It's got to be 7 or 8 years since I received a network busy message.

Sounds like there is a tower down

As I am grandfathered, I don't think the throttling affects 128kbps streaming audio.

256 would be an improvement I usually only get 16. I also only get 16 on my Sprint tab.
trying to come up with better signature.......
