God bless those people, they are the ones paying for the massive infrastructure that is required to build these cellular networks.

On the other hand there is a segment of the market that will just go without the product completely if their only choice is to pay the high price points of contract service. The major carriers know this, so they use MVNO's to sell their product to that segment of the population and at the same time they don't have to cheapen their "brand" by servicing those customers directly.
    Totally agree

Please Let us know what you find out about this. It is interesting idea to hawk the e71 and try to switch over to legitimate Byod sim.

Not sure If i'd do it right away as I want to see and make sure the sim only version of the plan is not handicapped in any way compared to e71 loophole. But you will be a good guinea piggy for us to judge!

I still did not get it. I see point to have both sims for Tmo and ATT it gives possibility to both worlds have 3g speeds. the questions are:
    1) Will I be able to roam from Tmo to ATT or back for free (and data too)?
    2) Do I need to unlock phone?

Yah those power youtubers probably need to go on the sprint network where they can watch all the simpsons episodes they can stomach.

I hear sprint is very tolerant for the crowd that seeks to replace their home broadband , cable tv and DVR with their vast choices of capable handheld devices.

    1. Not sure. But, unless you live in the West, you shouldn't have to roam much.

    2. No, you shouldn't need an unlocked phone, since the sims are unlocked.

I had an interesting conversation with siri in chat mode the other day where she confessed to being a terminator and was deploying sky net soon.

Thanks for sharing that! I would appreciate it if you could point me in the right direction, where to find these hacks. Ya, my 2g was given to me from a friend so the price was definitely right! But now that I have been bitten by the iPhone bug, and I am no longer satisfied with all my limitations of the 2g, soon it will be on to bigger and better! The 4s! :

Sorry did not clarify. My wife now is on Tmo 50$ plan (and has Optimus T). Everything is ok except limitation of 100mb per month (she needs a little more) so this one seems like a good deal... Looks like i have to buy tmo version of sim to get 3g on optimus t. So do I need to unlock it first and since ATT coverage better, will i be able to roam to att (no 3g of course)?

A lot of the T-Mo phones have 1900, but not 850, so they would have spotty 3G on AT&T, depending on where they use 850 vs. 1900. The Gnex is Pentaband.

This is very interesting, I just find it hard to believe that there is no catch, like some throttling or something. Does ST get the same data speeds that AT&T gets?
I usually support government regulation, but It is unfortunate that the government over-regulated and killed the AT&T/ T-Mobile Merger
The best explanation of the pricing nutiness in the industry.
Why Sprint and T-Mo will always suck.
The only way to end the pricing insanity is to eliminate contracts and subsidies.
I want Wifi calling on AT&T.
If you text while driving, you're an idiot. End of story.

Me too. I'm waiting for the catch. Right now I see the straighttalksim website advertising "unlimited data" and not their typical "unlimited mobile web access". I really am waiting for the data details. That's the thing for me. Android sucks some data up.

I called tracphone and tried to order a sim card and the rep told me I had to have the phone that I wanted to put on the service so they can program the sim card. Now what happens if I want to change my phone in the future? Will the sim not work in the swapped phone? Maybe she didn't know what she was talking about.

There's got to be something. Right now we have unlimited data, unlimited text, and unlimited voice on AT&T's entire network and roaming partners for 1/2 the price of AT&T with 3GB of data and almost unlimited minutes. Of course the support is not there, and you can't get upgrades, but beyond that, there's got to be something.

It seems to me that since people have gotten calls for using "too much" data, "unlimited" here seems to have the caveat of "within reason." I'd really like it better if they'd just clarify an actual reasonable limit, or make it truly unlimited. As someone pointed out, the average end user is not gonna go through the "trouble" this would take to activate. So theoretically they could give us truly unlimited as they'd have a pretty small user base, and outside of a few data hogs here and there, most people aren't gonna use a whole lot of data. I use ~50 mb/month on Virgin; I'd definitely use more if I had better speeds and signal strength, but probably wouldn't use more than 500 mb.
