I think we're in a new phase of competition. You will see better deals from Simple Mobile, etc.

I think they may actually be loosening up their grip on data too. A few weeks ago I "accidentally" used 1.5gb in a single day. Long story short I assumed I was connected to wifi because I was at home. I figured screw it i'm not gonna stop using my data service for the rest of the month to make them happy so I just used it like I normally do after that. They never called after that one day of high usage and they still haven't called with 4gb down in one month. I'm not gonna push it too hard intentionally and usually stay below 3gb but being that they now offer a sim card for $15 they can't hold the threat over your head of blacklisting your overpriced phone. Instead all they can do is take your number and make you buy another $15 sim.

I see you are using a 4s. Are you using it on ST and if so, how's the data usage as far as Siri goes, since we are talking about data right now? I read on one of these threads that Siri is a data hog.

Yep imma iPhone 4s factory unlocked. I use Siri a fair amount of time mostly for shenanigans and I don't see a big hog issue with it. I even saw an article that disproved the siri hog hypothesis.

I even have hand free controls cydia hack installed and assistant extensions cydia hack and so it's constantly listening in the background so I can just yell at it to do things for me instead on hit the home button. Sure it drains a larger percent of battery but it's nifty. I had an interesting conversation with siri in chat mode the other day where she confessed to being a terminator and was deploying sky net soon.

Although my observations are not scientific, I don't always pay attention if I am wifi or 3G. I'm at about 1.5 gigs and my months ends on the 10th and I feel like I got my money's worth out of the ST 3G. I don't feel like I've been slighted.

Oh here is the article where it contradicts the claim

Thanks for the info stonedcold. I am in the market very soon for the 4s and was just wondering how it was going to fair as far as the data usage went with Siri. I would like to find that hand free controls hack you spoke of. That is how I would prefer to be using Siri too. I hate having to constantly be hitting the home button for everything. and you mentioned assistant extensions? I am currently using a jailbroke 2g on here right now, and can't wait to upgrade to the 4s! Just trying to find my best deal on one, seems they jumped back up a little in price on ebay.

I apologize for getting off topic here, but just thought anyone else that is considering using the 4s would also like to know about Siri's data usage. I appreciate the help!

All this is exciting but till Feb. 7 or whenever they REALLY launch it, there's nothing more to discuss except speculations. I'm checking back in when ST /N10 byod is officially live . Btw, I wonder if N10 will be offered to dealers as ST is a Walmart exclusive?

Yeah man no problem. I was in the same camp as you. I was on a 3GS for the longest, watching all my buds get the latest and greatest listening to how much money they gotta pay. So I saved up my nickels and dimes and ate soup most of the time and bought an factory unlocked 4S and did the various ST gimmicks.

Never again imma be married to a phone or a plan. After getting in on a bunch of promos and selling the last of my t401g it works out to about 26-28 bucks a month for me for the next 6 months. So for that price point I am satisfied in what I'm getting. Plus it gives me an escape since apple always puts out a phone each year.

So far there is lot of proof. Reps at straight talk official forum tell customers about coming byod. http://www.straighttalkwirelessforum...f=6808&t=51662

Website now up http://www.straighttalksim.com/shop.php ready to take sim only orders in a couple days.

Instructions on how to activate http://www.straighttalksim.com/support.php

So the evidence is quite incriminating that yah it looks like the real deal.

And also it is only February not April 1st.

Straight Talk Facebook reps have talked about the new BYOD frequently on their wall, so I highly doubt that it is a joke.

LG announced both in the 2X. According to someone at my local Walmart (I'm not saying that Walmart associates actually know anything), the one that ST will be using is the CDMA version. I guess we won't know until someone buys one and takes the battery out. It won't be me - 512MB is still too little RAM for my taste. And buying from ST - with the BYOP deal - doesn't make economic sense.
