Not without some work. It was never a big deal for me and I gave up. I have a factory unlocked Iphone4.

Yep send and receive MMS works fine in unlocked apple phone.

With iPhone you have 2 picture/video message options on ST.

Normal MMS works but large files are compressed. But can send and receive for most phones. Ex. Video is compressed so quality changes.

Next option is iMessage only work with other iPhones. But nothing is compressed. Ex. Video is uncompressed quality is maintained.

As for the first 6 digits of the S/N, they are
    8901 26
There is another number on the card. It is 11 digits long. It just says "this is not your sim serial number", under the number.
Not sure what it is or if it is safe to give the whole number out on a public forum.

What you never want to post is the whole 20 digit SIM S/N. The first 6 digits never change; 890126 = T-mobile and 890141 = AT&T.
If I had to GUESS at your SIM model number it would be; TF64PSIMT5B
Is this correct or is it some hybreed SIM?

I dont want to end up switching only to find out that savings will be less than I thought.
I knew some people have higher voice plans and for them this is probably cost effective but I am probably right at the margin of worth it or not. If I did the caculation for the monthly I would save $15/month but if they add those other fees I mentioned my difference will be more like around $6.
That depends on the state you're buying it from (the area code of the phone number). In NY, for example, I'm charged state and local sales tax (to the penny), the FUSC [Federal Universal Service Charge - that's probably something everyone gets hit with] and that's all. (I'm looking at a $45 card purchase from Friday, 2/11 - $45 plus $4.65 tax and $0.68 FUSC.)

Do not call their regular customer service lines, unless you can speak Spanish. Their English-speaking (I use that term loosely) agents are outsourced in places where English is not even the primary language. At least, their Spanish-speaking agents are outsourced in places where Spanish is actually spoken. The result is that while Spanish-speaking agents are still script-driven, at least they understand you and you understand them... as long as you speak Spanish that is.

For English-speaking customer service, use their Facebook page, or email through their website form. If you can't get your issues solved this way, then call their corporate office's customer service. 1-800-876-5753.

UPDATE: First off, thanks very much to all of you who offered suggestions. I was planning to wait until Monday morning to call the number as mentioned above - and I can completely agreee that calling the regular customer service number is NOT advisable, unless you can communicate in Spanish. So to that issue I say "Adios!".

I decided to check my PO Box this evening as I hadn't checked Saturday's mail. What should I find? Well, it's another package from Straight Talk! This one contained the missing SIM card and I activated and now all is working fine (except MMS on my 4s, which is expected). I'm happy now

Wow that's awesome! Well, I'm guessing I should've paid attention in Spanish class. I should probably get one of those courses on audio, load it up & play it when I drive around.

Can anyone who is on Straight Talk with the BYOP Sim, confirm that Texting into Short Codes work?
I'm debating on whether to get ST or not. If you need one to test you can try texting LIME to 71441 or FOX to 72727. Those are not me just some short code mobile providers.

    Thanks

It works but it's against the TOS. To play it safe, I'd stay away from short codes messaging service that costs money. I don't think they'll go through but they'll set Straight Talk in red alert mode. I'd only text if it's a free service (one with the usual disclaimer "regular data and messaging charges from your carrier may apply"), and only if it's compatible with AT&T -- or T-Mobile, depending on what ST SIM you got.

Maybe someone can give me some guidance here.

Purchased sim last week, activated monday with a number port FROM Google Voice. Nothing was happening so I called and was told that Google Voice was treated as a landline port and would take about a week (today was the scheduled port day.

Last night at 11:30PM I received the email from Google that the number had ported. This AM I called the number and it went to ST voicemail. Called ST, finally got transferred into the port dept, the Rep said she "closed" the port ticket which would provision my SIM. Rebooted, nothing (iPhone 4S-says "no service" at the top). Rep says it may take an hour to get through. Its been 3 hours and I've been rebooting about every 30 minutes.

Do I need to call again? Also, have tried the micro sim (using an adapter) in two other ATT phones, both of which acted the same.

    Thanks so much for that!

I know, I read that it's *Technically* against their TOS, but
so is continuous streaming of audio/video. I won't be doing
either of those, just e-mail, web browsing, some apps, texts,
    & phone calls. I don't wanna pay Verizon $90/mo so I have
the ability to watch Netflix on a 4" screen.

I'm in the mobile marketing arena so I also needed to know if
these services do get blocked. I understand why they dont want
pay per Text services, that's obvious. Free Text coupons & such
    shouldn't be an issue though.

What would be the worst thing they do to me? De-Activate my
    Sim? Couldn't I just get another one & Re-Activate?

We're not really sure how they're handling this yet, or anything like short codes or data or anything else. This summer, I'll have to decide whether to get service with ST or my own AT&T plan, so I'll definitely be watching cut-offs closely on these forums. Likely though, the only limits will be data based, since that's what cost them the most money.
I usually support government regulation, but It is unfortunate that the government over-regulated and killed the AT&T/ T-Mobile Merger
The best explanation of the pricing nutiness in the industry.
Why Sprint and T-Mo will always suck.
The only way to end the pricing insanity is to eliminate contracts and subsidies.
I want Wifi calling on AT&T.
If you text while driving, you're an idiot. End of story.

An update to my porting issue FROM google voice to ST. I just spent 2 hours as they escalated my provisioning issue up the food chain.

When you call my number you may get my voicemail OR you may get a teenage girl in Kentucky. How is that for weird? I was getting some odd texts for the KY girl through my GV account this weekend, before the port was released by google. Apparently, she was assigned my number (how does someone in KY get assigned a Florida area code anyway?).

ST now says it may take 24-48 hours to properly provision my SIM.
