I posted this as a reply in the coverage section, but I wanted to see what you guys thought about T-Mobile's recent developments on coverage. First and foremost, coverage in some states has expanded a lot over the past 6 months, but there are 2 states in particular that I wanted to point out: Texas and Florida.
Compare the image ja5219 took on January 10th, 2012 to the one I just pulled today (February 2nd, 2012).
In just a few weeks, we see substantial improvement. Hopefully it's a sign of things to come.
I-35 from the Red River to San Antonio is all 3g-4g.
I-20 from almost Abilene straight through DFW to Arkansas on I-30 is all 3g-4g now.
Eastern New Mexico (not pictured) just got a really large swathe of 3g.
Dallas to Wichita Falls is completely 3g now.
I-10 from Sealy (east of houston) through Louisiana is all 3g the whole way now.
Expanded coverage on I-45 between Dallas and Houston, as well as south of Longview
3g Coverage for a very substantial length along highway 281 from San Antonio to highway 20. Looks like that area previously had no coverage at all (ie it's now 3g-only coverage)
And more 3g coverage in the panhandle (including areas of more 3g-only service)
Very nice to see T-Mobile improving 3g coverage rapidly.
And now to see an interesting comparison of 3g in Florida. It kinda speaks for itself, but in case you don't know it's a comparison of coverage between ATT and TMO.
ATT Key:
TMO easily matches, and possibly bests ATT coverage in FL.

I think T-Mobile had lots of expansion plans in place which were kind of put on hold during the AT&T merger fiasco. Now they're coming to light.
While T-Mobile will never be as extensive in coverage as AT&T they can afford to continue building out where most Americans work and travel (principally).
And, if we're lucky AT&T and Verizon will continue to increase rates so that people weigh T-Mobile when making their buying decision. For most people most of the time T-Mobile is a great option, and with roaming that most of the time becomes almost all the time if people limit their usage while in rural areas.
AT&T and T-Mobile SF Bay Area+ Cell Sites - with Cell ID labels http://sfocellsites.com/ Over 1,100 AT&T sites in the 9 Bay Area counties + San Benito, Santa Cruz and Monterey counties Now over 1,500 T-Mobile sites in these 12 counties
The map for Florida seems inconsistent with what's on the T-Mobile general coverage website. For instance, the http://www.t-mobile.com/coverage/pcc.aspx map still shows a lot of 2G coverage on the Beachline (SR 528 from Orlando to the Space Coast). I'm guessing T-Mobile needs to update the maps to show the new 3G/4G coverage there if is now high-speed coverage there!

Let me get this straight: you don't have this provider, you don't like this provider, yet you're always in this provider's forum?

I'm particularly impressed by the Saint Louis area coverage east of STL.
Compare to AT&T that is missing areas like Centralia, Mt. Vernon, and Salem in Illinois where AT&T is the ILEC.
So my wife was on the phone with t-mobile, getting a sim card for her iPhone 4S. I told her to ask the rep and he said that you can indeed get 3G on the iPhone 4S apparently. So I'll be testing that out once that comes in. Currently on my 3Gs.
It sure isn't here in NorCal, I was excited when they rolled out service up here initially, but now they and Metro PCS remain the only non 3G carriers in the area. I would have liked to go to them, but their lack of 3G in NorCal just doesn't cut it for my needs. I mean, if you stay in the Bay Area, Sacramento, Redding, Chico, Yuba City or Marysville, yeah, it's great, but NorCal is a HUGE place, and that leaves a lot of places with just GPRS and EDGE on T-Mobile, I'm sorry but GPRS in 2012 in areas where others are rolling out LTE is just plain sad.
4S does not have 3G bands for most of T-Mobile's network. I have an iPhone 4 but not unlocked yet.. won't work unless T-Mo deploys PCS 3G in your area.

If your 3GS iPhone doesn't get 3G, then the 4S will not be any different.

Well thats because T-Mobile doesn't go after rural area's and likely won't... Thats why you have AT&T.

Yeah that's what I was thinking. Either T-Mobile has deployed 3G in my area for the 4S or he was just on something. Guess we'll find out. When I try to turn on the 3G on my iPhone it just goes straight to No Signal.
