I am with Rogers now in a contract about 1 1/2 years left...I want to switch to Fido but will I still have to pay the ECF even though they are the same company?
Do a search for intra brand porting to find the requirements.
Carrier unlocked iPhone 4
Unlimited airtime, Unlimited CAN/US long distance, Unlimited SMS to CAN/US wireless numbers
2500 Call Forwarding minutes to CAN/US numbers
CiD, 6GB
Google Voice for visual voice mail with message transcription, conditional greetings, unlimited messages (vs 35 message cap), remote retrieval from any PC or phone, no auto-purge after 10 days and most importantly no $7-$8 charge.
No other fees. You just set up your new account like you were a new customer at Fido and then call Rogers with your Fido account number and they reduce your ECF to $100. Make sure you call Rogers beforehand as well for all the details and to have what you are doing noted on your account.
Define better.

If they are the same company why do you want to switch?
It might be, all depends on your needs. I am just not a fan of any zoned plans.
SP Unlimited Value w/MY5 LDUnlimited Eve & Wknd Minutes

Evening Calling
Double Data Add-on-1 GB data in total
Call forwarding
Voicemail
2500 text messages
So you get 350 daytime minutes total, early evenings, CID/VM/CCF/2500 SMS and 1GB of data for $63 (around $55 pretax?)?
I don't think you will do better with Fido, but again it depends on your needs. Since you are considering City Fido, I am guessing you want unlimited minutes (or higher anyway). Certainly at retail pricing you are not going to get anywhere near that and you won't qualify for retentions for 3 months.
$40 "Koodo Response plan", unlimited minutes, unlimited international SMS (not retentions but but really retail either. Gotta ask for it)
$10 VP with CID/VVM/WC
$3 2500 Call Forwarding minutes
$30 1GB data
=$83 before tax
Looking at City Fido would save you $10, so $73 before taxes, but then you are in the zoning trap. The only way to go lower in price is to drop the minutes (or features). Even with Fido retentions you will have trouble matching your price for the features.

The main issue is that I wanted to do a HUP and Rogers retention is telling me I got to wait till June 30 2013 to be eligible for an upgrade. I am sure my contract ends before that. I got my iPhone 4 (HUP) in December 2010.
