Another PP Newbe with some questions

I have been reading through the faqs for a few days and still have some questions...

    1. Page Plus Direct (Dealer) has an $80 2000 Minutes for 365 day card that is not shown on the Page Plus Cellular (Carrier) site. Is this a valid option and the carrier just doesn't sell it or is that an old option that Page Plus Direct forgot to remove?

    2. I am still confused on some references to spending minutes from cash for overage charges. I don't see any options for simply adding cash into the account. Do they just keep your credit card on file and charge when you go over? My preference would be to simply have it not work when I have used my minutes or if I try to use something that costs more. Do they allow this (this meaning my preferred way).

    3. On one of the threads I read that you needed to start your account with the 39 Unlimited TnT plan, than after the first month you can switch to whatever you wish. I don't see any reference to that on the Page Plus Cellular (Carrier) site. So was that out of date info or maybe I misunderstood?

    4. Did I read correctly that the $0.50 monthly access fee only applies to the Standard Plan with 100, 400, 1000 (and maybe 2000) minutes? Or is there a Straight pay-as-you-go prepaid with cash plan as described in the Prepaid Rate Comparison WiKi but not really described anywhere else?

    5. Can I pair a $35 / 400 Minute Card every 120 days with a $10.95 Power Text 2000 Text Plan each month on a single Phone?

    6. I have three phones on VzW in a family plan. If I wanted to try this service on my phone first than bring my other family members over next month would that work? Do I simply activate/port on the Page Plus side and my phone will be automatically removed from the family plan on VzW? (Note my phone is not the primary phone on the VzW Family Plan).

    7. I would eventually like to get an Android OS Phone. Not sure that I want to buy from eBAY. Nervous about the "Clean" ESN. How do people ensure they are buying one with a clean ESN (one that is not banned/blocked)? Is there a retailer that sells Android devices for PP that folks are happy with?

    Thanks

$80 card is only available from dealers, not from the Page Plus site.

When you activate your phone, you start out on the standard plan, then you have the option of purchasing a pin for a monthly plan. Let's say you purchase a 1200 min 3000 text monthly plan for $29.95. You have the OPTION of adding a $10 pin to add cash to your account in case you go over. When the funds are used, any feature that runs out stops working while the other features continue to work. The real beauty of prepaid, you'll never get a surprise $200 bill, the most you will loose is what has already been paid. You can stack monthly pins so you don't have to worry about adding a pin each month, but it's not required to keep a credit card on file.

Your phone will activate on the standard plan, then you pick which pin you wish to add to use your phone, standard or monthly.

    You sure can.

Your phone will need to be removed from Verizon first and the ESN will need to be clear. You can either do an ESN swap with an old phone you have laying around, or Call PPC and see if they can move your phone to a dummy ESN then activate your current phone and port your number over. Once your number is ported, your account with VZW will be cancelled. Before you do this you should make sure your phone isn't primary on your verizon account. You can change this online yourself or call Vzw but don't tell them you are going to port.

Ask for the ESN before bidding. Most sellers will give you this info and you can verify with vzw or there's an online esn checker if I can find it.

    Thanks

I hope I covered everything and maybe someone else could help me out here.

As far as a retailer cowboom dot com sells used (and new) phones for a decent price. I've seen it recommended here before and have purchased from them too. It's a BestBuy company.

Regarding verifying an ESN/MEID, it would be best to verify directly with PPC because PPC can also make sure that it isn't an ESN that has been blocked because it was used on Vzw prepaid.

Thank you everyone for your help. It is making more sense now.

I have a few more questions on the above quote...

What is meant by an ESN Swap and why is this needed? I am guessing I can only activate a device that is currently not in use by another carrier. Correct? So the swap is really activating a different device on VzW so that the Device I want to Activate on PP is not seen as in use. I also think I understand that I can still port a number that is in use which is why I am swapping devices in the first place.

In order to simplify this, I just purchased a New Verizon Samsung SCH i400 Android Continuum. I will simply activate this phone when it arrives and port the number from my VzW account.

I also understand that the Voice and Text should be fairly easy to get working, but I may have tome configuration to do to get the Android Web functionality working. I did a Search on teh entire Page Plus forum and only found one reference to someone purchasing this device for use on Page Plus. I am hoping that the instructions for configuring will be similar to other Samsung devices. I guess I will worry about that when the device arrives.

    Thanks again.

I don't think you'll have to do anything to get your data working with that device. I think its the iPhone that requires special tweaking, not the Android devices.
