Why does any business charge for a service here, and not charge for it there? It is a business decision. I suppose if you disagree with it you are free to choose other options. Take it one step further to the dealer level. If a dealer wants to charge $25 for an activation, that is his right. Or he can do free activations for a select group, say members of the Page Plus Facebook group, which I see happening all the time.

Given the mistakes and misinformation that occasionally surface regarding the PPC website, and there were also some reports on HoFo that the $10 wasn't actually charged, I was just wondering if it was accurate, that's all.
As you're aware, my questions and observations have resulted in some changes to the PPC website, and this was simply meant to be a verification of accuracy for this item.
So, based on your response, using the PPC web form for activation, the $10 activation fee is accurate, and should be charged.

These types of observations of the website have absolutely been very helpful in identifying mistakes that needed to be corrected, and they are very much appreciated. The $10 charge is correct in this case. My guess is that the free porting option was confused with the new number activation option, for which there is a charge. I think there is a general lack of public knowledge about porting, and we are actually working right now on some things to promote it.
I think that this was sort of answered already, but I'm not sure it was completely unambiguous. The $10 fee is for activation with a new phone number. Activation on the web site or by phone is free if you are porting a number. I just did two activations with porting numbers, one on the phone and one on the web and both were free.
Maybe the cheapest way is to activate the phone for free somewhere else (but on Verizon's network).
And then, a month late, port into P+. ??? But then, where first that has free activation, reasonable
price, BYOD, piggyback on Verizon's network?

That seems like a lot of hassle for nothing, when you can just call PPC CS and get a phone activated for free.
I have activated 4 using cs, changed esn several times, while finding my present phone, no charge and great service, just a wait period for a live cs person.
When you use a "live operator" it costs more than using an automated web site ...
just say'n ...
Maybe, maybe not. Employees are being paid already by just going to work. A site is developed and maintained at a cost that you can calculate output for.

I ran an automated web site ... once it is set up it costs nothing except for nominal maintenance and web hosting is rather cheap ... but it generates funds from other considerations anyway ...
a "live person" you pay every minute of everyday they work whether they generate funds or not ...
the web site should be free since it generates funds from other considerations and the "live person" should be the fee ...

but hey ...
Tell that to Amazon, Microsoft, Google, and every other enterprise or sales channel site owner.
