Heads up - Straight Talk to offer $45 Unlimited Talk/Text/Data on AT&T or Tmobile

For those who don't wander too far from this forum, Straight Talk has announced they will provide $45 for unlimited talk text and data on either AT&T or TMobile starting in a week.

For more info see the Straight Talk forum or http://www.straighttalksim.com/

I am not very familiar with Straight Talk but two downsides
    1) You must buy the PIN from Walmart or Straight Talk where they charge sales tax. No callingmart, etc
    2) Data is not really unlimited. But unlike Tmobile they are not really up front about it - most people report getting cut off somewhere between 1-2gb and possibly about 100mb per day.
    3) At least to start the SIM is $15

This is generally more exciting on the AT&T side (especially for the iSheep) but it is also competitive with TMobile's $50 plan since its basically the same rate, but instead of 100 megs at 4G and the rest 2G, you get X amount (1 Gig? 2 Gig?) at 3G and something the rest (throttled? stopped? unclear)

My wife is on Simple Mobile but doesn't like not getting SMS short codes, so she wants to move up to Tmobile just for that. Will consider Straight Talk in the future.

I'm staying with Tmo. I'm having a hard time staying under 5gb plus 100 min and groove IP have worked out great. I'm pleasantly surprised with the service and data speeds. I am thinking of upgrading from the exhibit 2, maybe buying a used galaxy s 2 on Ebay.

So Simple Mobile is selling bare SIMs now, BYOD and all?

This is good news for the prepaid sector. Bad news for everyone who spent a boat load on E71s getting the SIMs out.
