Triumph is lengendary for being a POS. I almost went that direction until I read the threads about how awful it was. I'm surprised VM is still selling it!.

My first month on TM was on the 50 dollar 100mgb plan, I shot through it pretty fast, so the second month I went to the 60 dollar 2gig plan and barely broke 100mgs.
The 4g on TM was very slow on the uptake but once it started moving it moved quickly. Voice and text were always good.
With the StraightTalk sim in my Exhibit 2, voice and text are the same and data is on the move once I hit the button and as fast if not faster than before.
On that first month when I shot through my 4g and it set back to 2g, it was faster than I had expected, most times it was almost as fast as the 3g on my TM/SimSwap phone a few times it was quite a bit slower, but over all not bad.

Well, it's nice to know that you decide that a phone is a POS without ever owning it. It isn't nearly as bad as the avalanche of negative remarks made it out to be.Originally Posted by EndeavorOR
But... it certainly isn't the best choice right now. If you're on a Triumph locked in at $25.... it's still quite nice though.
Provided there are no major flaws in it, probably the best PAYG phone right now is the ST LG Optimus 2X.
I know there are people waiting for it but ST is dragging their feet on the release.
I truly hope this phone works well and sells well, it will be a new bench mark in PAYG.
While that is true, It is not ST selling those phones. As a branded PAYG phone that ST will support if there are issues, it will be a new bench mark. No other PAYG provider that I am aware of has a phone like the 2X.
The other thing here is the probable price. I'm hoping less than 300.00. A comparable phone from ATT or Verizon, Sprint maybe even TM (in one of their stores, not through a outlet such as WalMart) would be twice that. I know for sure from ATT it would be. Last fall I was at a local ATT store looking at Android phones and they were selling non-dual core smaller than 4 inch screen phones for over 600.00, in that store a phone comparable to the Samsung Exhibit 2 4G was over 500.00.
If TM has fixed the ROM on these phones so that we don't have a MotoTri repeat on the ST side, it should be an impressive thing.
tmobile has the G2x which is the twin of the Optimus 2x. i just switched over to the $30 Tmobile prepaid plan and bought the G2x on craigslist for $200. it is a very fast phone and definitely a HUGE upgrade over anything that was on virgin mobile. i originally was going to give Straight Talk a try since they are supposed to be getting the Optimus 2x, but i just didn't want to keep waiting and decided to try the tmobile prepaid plan. the plan only comes with 100 talk minutes but the unlimited data is at 4G speeds for your first 5gb of downloads...that is pretty hefty lol my speeds are insanely fast...between 4,500kbps and 9,000kbps download speeds. the LG G2x was rated as one of the fastest HSPA+ 14.4 phones, and it definitely shows on the Tmobile network. Not sure how the other prepaid network speeds are, but the 4G on Tmobile is supposed to be the 2nd fastest netowrk around, aside from verizon's LTE network.
If you can check, what version of Android is your phone running? 2.x or 3.x?
I am hoping it will give an indication as to what the ST Optimus 2x will be loaded with.

mine is running Android Version 2.3.3.
That's what it came with since my phone was manufactured 9-16-11. i rooted it but haven't yet loaded a different rom. i am waiting until every feature is available on some of the other roms out there. i don't want to load a rom and gimp my phone from some features...granted it's gimped now since LG decided to bundle the stock camera app with gingerbread instead of their really good camera app that came with the phone when it had froyo (2.2)
Yes, I feel I and my friends and family will make a switch next month. Researching greener pastures as we speak. Something has happen to VM's service. Nobody in my area gets reliable service after this supposed "upgrade".
Cant make a call due to being dropped. 8 out of ten calls do not make it to my phone. 6 out of 10 texts will not send without repeatedly trying the resend button. WTF Virgin? You really screwed the pooch on this one. Its not me, its everyone around me experiencing this.
I'm going to that T-mobile $30 plan asap. I had a great deal with VM on their $25 plan, but I'll gladly pay $5 dollars more for service that actually works.
If you have the means, the HTC Amaze 4G is their best device for true T-Mobile hspa+42 broadband speeds. The HTC Amaze 4G makes Sprint's 4G devices like the EVO and Photon seem rather pedestrian and you can utilize the T-Mobile $30 prepaid service option on that spectacular device. Sprint/VM/Boost will need to bring a spectacular device to their prepaid service to compete with this new T-Mobile device option...
