I happily defected back when ever that $30 5GB Monthly4G plan came out for T-Mobile. Not only is the used myTouch 4G so much better than the Triumph(not to mention the huge selection of phones can now choose from), but the difference in data speeds is like night and day. I don't even notice it when I forget to turn on wifi at home now. Sure I had the old $25 plan and had to up my cost by $5, but it is $5 a month well spent. Sprint/Virgin, call me when you get your LTE network built, then we can talk again.
Hate to sound like a broken record, but some phones I'd recommend considering:
1. HTC Sensation 4G
2. LG G2x (Also a 4G-capable phone)
3. HTC Radar 4G (WP7 phone)
I don't know all that much about the Sensation. But the devs on XDA have recently released the beta version of Ice Cream Sandwich. It won't be long before they finetune it and smooth down all the bugs cropping up.
I actually just got a Sensation 4G off Craigslist today for $250, lightly used except for a small scratch on the screen. My SIM is due in on Monday... pretty excited. The phone is great.

You got a great deal. I personally avoid CL, but I do believe it goes for $300 slightly used on eBay. Well done.
So for those transferring out, any love for the HTC Radar 4G or other Windows OS phones? I was too geeky to take a leap of faith. I crave my customization. The ability to simply switch between ROMs and choose which kernel to pair with it is irresistible. But it'd be nice to get some perspective from a Windows owner.

I grabbed a mint condition Samsung Infuse 4g (4.5" screen) off Ebay for $250. Got a ST BYOD ATT Sim Card and am now enjoying 3.5m download speeds where VM used to get 250k on my old OV. Granted, I am paying about $6.50 per month more then I was with my grandfathered $40 plan, but I'm OK with that.
Well, my Straight Talk SIM came today, popped it in my new iPhone 4S and activated. Had no problem thanks to folks on Howard Forums over the the Straight Talk section and their WIKI for iphones on ST. For those of you thinking of switching, I thought I'd post my speedtest results. I will say that my speeds are not the high speeds that I was hoping for, although I've only done 4 speed tests thus far, all from home. Previously on VM, I was getting download speeds of between 100K and 500K at home (1Mb to 1.5 Mb at work). On my first 3 speed tests I got download speeds of 1.11 to 1.89, upload speeds of .21 - 1.06, pings of 89-328.
Since my VM account is still active, I decided to do simultaneous speed tests. Here are the results:
VM Ping 404, Down 0.78, Up 0.36
ST - Ping 298, Down 2.23, Up 0.46
This was in Concord, NC (outside Charlotte) on an AT&T iPhone 4S, at 9:45 PM, and I have 3 bars of service. If I can get 2.23 speeds consistently, I'll be a happy camper. Those are about the speeds that I got on VM when I first got the Beyond Talk plan, but as you can see, they've gone to almost nothing right now.
VM could have kept me if they had done two things: 1) not killed our speeds -- they were great when I joined the Beyond Talk plan a year and a half ago, but are abysmal now. 2) Offer good devices. I paid a premium for my iPhone 4S because I was so frustrated with the OV, not being able to install one new app unless I uninstalled 2, and having to delete all my text messages because the phone was "out of space". But now I have one of the premier smartphones on prepaid, no contract, for only $5 a month more than what I was paying before, maybe less if I buy the plans 3 months at a time. Obviously, I just activated the service, and it remains to be seen whether it will be worth it, and whether the service will hold up; but for now, I'm a happy camper.
Glad to see you're enjoying your phone. I share your concerns. I would've stayed if my speeds hadn't dropped below the 0.7mbps I started out with. As I've said in another thread, 0.7mbps was plenty fast enough for me. I could read the morning news and use my GPS anywhere in SF. Sprint for its low speed had wide data coverage all around SF. But now that my speeds have dropped to an insulting low of 0.095mbps, I've had to reduce my Intercept to a backup phone. I've found that because of the weak data, my GPS is inconsistent and problematic. I rarely pick up a GPS signal anymore. I expect to be using those minutes in the coming months for phone interviews, but I've disabled data connectivity.
If Sprint thinks they can keep their postpaid customers who're one source of cash by throttling down VM prepaid speeds from previous lows to even lower speeds, they must be smoking some pretty strong stuff.
Got my wife's my touch today (my G2X should be here later today too) and compared it to the Triumph, MT has 1 bar (-92 dBm 0asu) The LG has full bars (-85 dBm 14asu) sitting side by side

Guess I missed something somewhere in this thread. Which carrier are you going to with the G2X?
Yeah . . . Is that the 100 minute a month thing? I don't think that plan would work for me as I normaly run between 200 to 250 minutes per month. But then again . . . . . . . .

Yes 100 min, but you can also use VOIP if you need to, for me 100 mins is MORE than enough

Don't for get that Straight Talk recent started offering BYOD plans for unlimited everything at $45 a month. They even offer SIMs that will work with locked AT&T or T-Mobile phones.
