sprint is 100% turning off the whole IDEN network sometime in 2013! they will use the area that nextel towers was and use it for thier CDMA/LTE network.....sprint new PPT (Nextel) network work just as nextels did

You can go to https://nextelnetwork.sprint.com/ to see when your area will be retuned. Mine will be retuned in June 2012. I guess they will announce the sites to be taken out approximately 30 days before the scheduled retuning date.

"retuned" . I love corporate euphemistic gibberish. As for my own pov, I'm going to have a blast trying out tons of different Motorola and Blackberry toys as they drop in price on my Boost mobile iden account till the bittersweet end. lol

Not "just as Nextels did" but close. IF Sprint enables their PTT service on 1x, well roaming, and gets some better smart phones, then maybe their new PTT will succeed.
