Hi. I'm on the 300minutes plan. And for the past couple months, there have been 2 people, who I don't know (I don't know how they got my phone number, only a few people, that I know, have my phone number) I have saved there name as block, and I have there number sent to go straight to voice mail. But they call at least twice a week. I feel I'm using at least 40minutes a month just answering my voice mail, and the people never leave a message (its so annoying to clear out a blank message). I can't afford the higher priced plan, and I don't think I really have much use for 1,200minutes (300 is fine for me).
I kind of want to change my phone number, but I wonder if there would be a better way of dealing with this. And before I had the number sent to voice mail, whenever they would call, I didn't have my phone with me, so I missed there calls.
And the other day Verizon called me saying something about a bad credit card (I don't know why they would call me: 1. It has been over 2 years since I had anything from Verizon, and 2. I don't have a credit card, the person on the bill was my mom, so I don't think they would have my info.) And the phone number came up as 000-000-0000, I let it go to voice mail, because I didn't know that number. It was a machine that left the message. That has been the second time since November that they have called. I wonder if I should go to the Verizon stand in the mall and ask them about this.
1-you may victim of identities theft
2- Turn off your cell phone, then check your voice mail from a landline
by dialling your cell phone you will not loose any minutes.
It sounds like your call blocker is actually initiating a call, which will cost you money anyway. Root Call Blocker is the only way (I am aware of) to get around this deficiency in all the call blockers on the market.
If your looking to just stop them from getting to your voice mail, you can try a free app called Mr Number on the market I had a few numbers that called like 3xs a week but if I answered it went to a spanish message, I dont speak spanish so I rather just block them eventually they stopped
the app can either send to voicemail or answer and hang up on them ,it happens fast the phone doesnt ring , you hear a clik and the app already picked up and hung up
then theres other features , I dont really use except if you log in you can see if the number has been reported and what others have said etc
I think theres a pay version also that has reverse look up and other features that I dont need
I did read people complaining after a update, I didnt update ,so might wanna read thru some reviews to see whats up with that, mine still works
Good Luck
The "bad credit card" calls could be a phishing scam. The scammers try to convince the victim to give out a good credit card number, then of course they'll charge it on a bunch of stuff overseas. About all you can do is ignore them.
I'm trying the app mr number. I think its just what I've been looking for. And I never really thought of checking my voice mail from a landline, I'm going to do that for now on. Thanks everyone.
You can retrieve your voice mail from a landline phone and not use any minutes. Just dial your cel number and at the prompt, press star, then enter your password.
