Is there anywhere to get broken/old ones? Preferably ones that are working but have broken screens and are useless to the owners? (I have one and the USB input is loose/broke but the screen/battery are perfect. I'd like to try and repair it myself)

kijiji, ebay, craigslist, etc.
If you do not find one for sale you can post a want to buy ad.
If you can identify the connector you should be able to purchase it from an electronics supplier. Soldering surface mount components can be challenging though unless you have experience and access to the right tools. would be easier to swap out the entire circuit board with a good one from a donor phone.
Here is the listing from one of the HoFo sponsors who sell the charging part: https://www.gounlock.com/details.php?itemId=399
We think everyone should be able to afford a wireless phone. That's why we were the first wireless company in North America to offer pay-by-the-second airtime, and why we don't charge an activation fee. NO scary contract to sign. Immediate national coverage. And a 30-day satisfaction guarantee. Yes, it's finally time to get a wireless phone.

Thanks Que. That's a lot of great info there. I have tried local classifieds but all I see are working phones. No one seems to think broken phones are worth selling. With that said, I'm in Newfoundland and people specializing in cell phone repair is not something we're familiar with here. To us the only option is to send phones away through providers to have them repaired.
I see you did a google search to find some repair places but do you have experience with any personally? I don't have a lot of money so if quotes are too high there's always youtube how to videos and the charger port you linked

In my case I would fix it myself if faced with this problem. Or there is a contractor I have worked with for electronics assembly who I would use who is very skilled if I didn't want to do it personally. I have the tools, my skills are passable when it comes to soldering though the finer detail stuff I'm not so great at and it takes lots of practice to become good with the small stuff.
But many of the repair places offer service by mail if nobody is local. As long as the board is not cracked I wouldn't expect anyone specializing in these repairs would have a problem getting it done.
If you can inspect the components of your phone to the point that you are confident it simply needs a new USB port soldered on you might find someone local who may not specifically advertise for cell repairs but might advertise for TV, Electronics, satellite, or computer repair work that has the tools and skills to solder the surface mount connectors.
But again, even if nobody is selling, you should post a "WTB" (Want to buy) ad in the local services like kijiji and craigslist to see if you can get a broken phone.
