Porting from Go Phone or other prepaid service to TF/N10/ST
In anticipation of Net 10's BYOD plan I'm seriously considering switching to Net 10, yet I wonder how you port a prepaid number (where there is no account number) to Tracfone/Net10/StraightTalk. Anyone with experience with this?
I am awaiting a new sim for TracFone LG800G with my ported number from a Net10 phone. They have failed miserably in getting my card to me. I will keep it brief. After 3 agents and then two supervisors and a general manager at the Miami office over a period of nearly two weeks, they sent the second card to the wrong address again. I am currently waiting for my card to come in the mail forwarded from the address they sent it to. With any luck it will arrive tomorrow. BTW, I had each of them read back all the info each time. They still shipped to my billing address, NOT the physical address where I am located.
Hopefully the nightmare will be over soon. I have been assured that when the NEW sim is activated, they will offer some compensation. All told, I spent about 6-7 hours on the phone......thank god for Skype.
There sure seem to be a lot of problems lately. I get the feeling that the CSRs' computers have been locked down tight as to what they can and cannot do. Such as overriding a billing address. There are CSRs who have authorization, but it's a real pain getting someone. Also, they are running scared about giving complimentary minutes. They have to write down why they gave them. The last time for me, the CSR was afraid, I could tell, but she gave me the ten I asked for, since the online activation failed and I had to call.
Well my saga is over. I got my new sim today. Installed and activated with help from Thania at Tracfone. When activated we discussed my compensation. I gave her my case number and she offered 300 minutes added to what I already had on the phone, but with no extension of the date. Not satisfactory, so we negotiated for about 20 minutes. When the dust settled, she agreed to 800 minutes and 4 months added to the expiration date.
Any time any of you have to jump thru hoops, document it and be sure to get a case number....it can be helpful.
