I'm been thinking about purchasing an iPhone for a long time now, but simply cannot justify shelling out 50$/month to a service provider.
Currently, I have an iPad 3G and subscribe to the 15$/month data plan. I also have a dumb phone using pay-as-you-go. I'm a very light user, so the 100$/year voucher is more than enough for me. I usually roll over half of that, when my voucher expires.
So I am currently paying around 23$ a month for my current needs.
Is there a plan out there, that would cost around the same, and that would allow me to share the data between an iPhone and my iPad. If it can't be done officially (as I suspect) I'm fine with jail-breaking both devices
I was considering the $25/month for 500MB Rogers pay-as-you-go data add-on. However, I know that Rogers does not usually have the best prices, so there might be a better option.

I'm using a Petro canada sim in my iPad 2 (had to cut it to make it fit) then I signed up for the unlimited browsing at 10 a month. I use it alot, some apps web browsing, email (needs to be setup as exchange account) twitter Facebook and even streaming radio work well. The only problem is that images load a low quality version because of the proxy. But it's unlimited and is a great option to try to see if it meets your needs. (I tried tracking for awhile and 500 mb I can go through in a couple of days)

Rogers, and I get 250 MB per month. I've since cancelled this account and gone to Virgin with a new iphone. I use their pay per use data plan, which is the same price as what I paid at Rogers, but I get 300 MB instead.
The only way you can share without paying extra is to use the wifi hotspot feature on your iPhone to provide an internet connection for your iPad. You're also not going to be paying around what you are now.
You could though try going to President's Choice with your iPhone, pay $10/month for 100MB and then use whatever it is you use for voice. That'd have you paying $25/month base, and since you're rolling over with the $100 option, that might push you to $30/month?
The word 'Pentaband' means '5 Bands', from the Greek word 'pente' meaning '5'. For a phone to be pentaband it has to support 5 bands. If the phone has AWS support, it doesn't automatically mean that it is pentaband. The reason Wind and Mobilicity users like pentaband phones is because the reverse is true. We're not the only ones who like pentaband phones though, so please stop referring to phones that work on Wind and Mobilicity as pentaband. It causes unnecessary cofusion.
That's pretty much what I get now with Virgin Mobile. I pay 20$ days a month for voice, and 15$ a month for data. It's double what I used to pay for voice, but I get a much more usable product. For my ipad, I just use my phone as a hotspot.
