Samsung Freeform 3 1x

I am in the San Jose CA area and have the latest PRL 3026. On my Freeform 3 it shows the 1x data.
Does the Freeform3 support 3G? I read on reviews that it has EVDO and it should display on my home screen if it does. On Verizon phones it would show EV and 1x but the Freeform 3 says 1x. Am I really getting 3G speeds and the software is not capable of showing the EV? Do I need to update the software too?

no u dont need to update software i think perhaps in ur area there isnt 3g yet or where u live yet. u could check more in other areas.

yea pimp is right i even double checked on sammy's page and it says nothing about evdo sorry bud.

There's an option to choose EVDO in the field test menu. under rx diversity.

care to elaborate? how do we get to field test menu? rx diversity? and anything else we might need to know? i will test immediately as there are four in my possession

Go to menu then click on settings press #
it will ask for user lock*
system info screen will open
click on field test menu
scroll to bottom of page to rx diversity
you have 2 options 1. cdma and 2.EVDO.
* You can find your user lock code on whiterabbit.org enter esn and press calculate

i tried it with no success... it showed evdo was already on... only getting 1x. prl is 3026...

oh yeah, and for the record, 3G aka EVDO is where i'm currently testing the phones at...

maybe the firmware on the phone offers the option but sadly the phone lacks the component?
