My Raider on LTE lasts me a full day, bare minimum. I remove the charger around 7:30am every day, and I'm at work from 8:30 to 5:30 and when I get home, it's on Wifi all night, and it will definitely last me at least a single day. If I use it more than my average usage per day, then I'm left with about 30% battery. If it's a light day's of usage, I'm left with somewhere around 60%.
My 9900 also lasts me more like 2-3 days and that's my work device, so it's receiving many emails per day.
Treatz, sounds like you are in a bad area or have some messed up devices.
it's my usage and devices.
the Raider is also very good on battery life.
the point of my story is that using the same phone, i get more life on Telus with the same useage
I haven't changed, the phone hasn't changed. the Network has.
No, the Raider is not good on battery, it has a puny 1630mAh battery.
The LG Optimus 3D I had before it had good battery life, that thing was amazing, best Android I ever had in terms of battery life. Though I found the Galaxy Nexus was a strong second.
Well my experience says otherwise, but of course, it is going to vary from person to person.

trust me, the Raider is very good for the 1730 mah battery it packs. It easily outlasts many phones of equal or more capacity.

Blasphemer.
Carrier unlocked iPhone 4
Unlimited airtime, Unlimited CAN/US long distance, Unlimited SMS to CAN/US wireless numbers
2500 Call Forwarding minutes to CAN/US numbers
CiD, 6GB
Google Voice for visual voice mail with message transcription, conditional greetings, unlimited messages (vs 35 message cap), remote retrieval from any PC or phone, no auto-purge after 10 days and most importantly no $7-$8 charge.
YMMV but here's my experience
keep in mind, this is on my 9900 and iPhone 4S (unlocked)
with my usage patters (i sit at work from 10 - 6 and typically go home or meet friends for coffee after)
off charger at 9am:
rogers 9900:
back and forth to EDGE / 3G all day, back and forth back and forth. by 3pm i had 20% battery life
(-85DB abverage on 3G)
iPhone 4S:
back and forth to edge / 3G all day. same like the 9900, by 3pm i had 20 - 30 % battery life.
at this point I got fed up and switched to Telus, as well, i tossed the 9900 so I only have the 4S from this point on.
Telus iphone 4S (same phone, remember, it's retail unlocked)
off charger at 9am
stays on 3G (substantially stonger at -70db)
by 4pm i'm still at 40%
will you get a weekend, probably not
but i don't want to use my iPhone on 2G. it's a very painfull experience.
i suggest you try Koodo and go from there.
I switch to 3g when I need to use data that's not email/im/bbm/etc. This allows me to use my phone for about 2 days. The only draw back is that it is a bit inconvenient to switch but still allows me to survive a weekend.
definitely a stronger network signal saves battery life but as you said, I still wouldn't be able to get 2 days.
I don't need a big screen. I like my 9900 and the only bad thing about it is the battery life. I wouldn't mind if they made the phone a little thicker so it could fit a bigger battery.
But, this is kind of off topic. Just saying, 2G still has a purpose for me...
And, I do want to switch to Koodo but in order to do so, I have to trick rogers into renewing my contract without hup... lol
If your in an edge only area where the nearest 3G tower is 100kms away. Does turning off 3G on an iphone help the battery or because it already on edge its the same?

If I was 100KM away from 3G I'd switch to EDGE only, your phone will still occasionally search for 3G if it is set to 2G & 3G.
Rogers One Number (just being honest, I don't think the other carriers have anything like it yet),
Correct, but it's basically a rip-off of Google Voice and the reason we don't have it yet is because carriers in Canada are doing all they can to block these services from emerging. Line2/Toktumi is trying to roll out unlimited texting in Canada and has posted at length about the resistance they're receiving from carriers. Carriers just block texts from their service. Obviously, they don't want people to know how outrageous charges for SMS are, which are basically free and piggyback off other traffic that's sent through cell towers. So I don't want to support that.

Meh, most carriers have FAB 5/FAB 10, or hundreds more minutes than Rogers. I suppose in certain respects there voice plans are better than others, but their crappy data plans, value packs, and network performance balance that out.
The only reason why 2G is useful because 3G sucks on Rogers Network. With my unlocked iphone4, i get almost 2.5 days on Bell/3G compare to Rogers/3G with 1.5 days.
Especially lately, even my standby time has shortened by almost 60-70% on Rogers. As with Bell, my phone can last me almost a week if not more with minimal data usage.
For my usage, if a phone lasts me 2days, it wud be sufficient, and I don't have a LAN line.
Anyways back to the topic, the plans still suck for individuals. They are obviously aimed at families of more than 4.

1. No, I wasn't joking, which is why I very specifically said 'yes, it is a pro for SOME'. I know that it's not going to be a pro for many here on HoFo, but that doesn't mean that Rogers doesn't have customers who are very pleased with their service.
2. I wasn't talking about other companies, I was talking about other carriers - Bell, Telus, Mobilicity, Wind, etc. Afaik none of them have come out with something like this and realistically, that's who Rogers is trying to compete with.
3. ..I'm not sure what you're trying to say here? Rogers has my5 and my10 too, and plans where you can have up to 2000 minutes shared after doubling, but people still go over...
I'm really not trying to say that Rogers is perfect and everyone should be ecstatic that they're offering this. All I'm trying to say is that it's great for the segment of people they're selling it to - middle class families who want the security of a known carrier and don't want to have to worry about overages. -shrugs- If it tanks, they'll get rid of it soon enough.
