I'm at the Rogers technology condo - a 'condo' they built into their offices at One Mount Pleasant. They use the condo to test technology. It's got a fancy TV, XBOX 360, a bunch of tablets, fancy remote control, etc.
The idea of Rogers One Number is that your cell phone number is how you identify yourself.
Rogers One Number unifies all of your communications including messaging and calling.
With your one number calls to your Rogers number can be taken from your cell phone or computer.
Calls made on your PC within Canada are free.
There's a separate contacts application for iPhone, Blackberry and Android as well as some feature (dumb) phones that you need to download to keep your contacts sync'd up. If you're on a Windows Phone you can access your contacts using the website.
You can move calls from your PC to your phone by dialing *11 on your phone. At that point you'll be using minutes on your Rogers plan.
There's a video chat feature which only works with other Rogers One number customers.
If you're on your PC you can make long distance calls. Those are billed separately from your Rogers wireless.
Rogers One number is only available on Rogers and isn't available for Fido customers.
Carrier unlocked iPhone 4
Unlimited airtime, Unlimited CAN/US long distance, Unlimited SMS to CAN/US wireless numbers
2500 Call Forwarding minutes to CAN/US numbers
CiD, 6GB
Google Voice for visual voice mail with message transcription, conditional greetings, unlimited messages (vs 35 message cap), remote retrieval from any PC or phone, no auto-purge after 10 days and most importantly no $7-$8 charge.
Lol, Rogers and Bell launching iTV? I'm sure they're already prepping lower monthly bandwidth caps to coincide.
I like Apple products, but if buying their TV (at a premium price) means getting more in bed with Rogers/Bell and obviously paying them more for the privilege of using my own TV, I'll probably pass. Maybe we'll start to see 'locked' TVs that can't be used with other compatible providers.
Howard: they said RON was not for Fido. Did they hint whether they anticipate it will be in the future or will it be kept as Rogers only?

I highly doubt they'll bring it to Fido. They're planning to use this to differentiate themselves amongst the other premium brands such as Bell and Telus.

I guess. If and when GV comes to Canada, that advantage will mostly vanish.

This is contrary from what I have read around this forum?
Where have you read different? They only part that doesn't seem clear is whether calls made from your PC, while not in Canada are also free. Rogers SM chimed in in another thread and said they would be, so I expect they will be.
