V9m has the best call quality of any phone I have ever used without a doubt.
I can't count the number of times people thought the call dropped when I wasn't speaking.
Absolutely zero background noise.
Droid 4 is very good like most Motos, but none of the smartphones I have used can match the V9m

Kb, I've thought about buying an old phone. I did have an e815. Overall, would you recommend that or v9m?
Definitely the V9m is a much nicer phone to use and carry and the e815 has that horrible charger/USB port that I'm certain you know all about if you owned one. V9m is microUSB like the current standard.

Problem solved. I'll get 'em both.
Why can't they just make a slate phone w/ a slider attachment, like an Asus Transformer Phone?
Buy the phone, people who want the keyboard pay an extra $50 and get the keyboard that snaps on the back and has an extra battery pack in it (like the Transformer dock does).
Then its just one model of phone for the manufacturer to develop updates for instead of two.
Probably because, either:
1-Too few people would want one and it wouldn't be economically viable; or,
2-Too many people would want one and it would expose (or increase) the demand for more dedicated keyboard handsets.
I'm not sure which.
But aren't such attachments already available in the aftermarket?

The downside of this is that the accessory keyboard would make the phone particularly thick. I have the Asus Transformer with the accessory keyboard and I honestly have to say that I haven't used the keyboard since I first got it. It defeats the purpose of having a tablet when it makes the thing as thick as a notebook computer. You might as well just carry a netbook with you.
