Is It possible To Change Plan To Cover Overage And Then Later Drop Back?
We have the 700 minute family plan and we never used the minutes so I didn't check like the hawk I used to be when my daughter used her cell more, but this month my wife started gabbing to a coworker and it never dawned on her that this person was using ATT, not VZW and she banged the minutes up to 1183 so far. So I am looking at a $245 extra unless I upgrade to a new plan. I have no problem doing this, but after a few months and she stops yapping and the minutes go back to the 250 area can I revert back to the lower plan or is there some time frame we have to keep it at the 1400 minute plan? Thanks.
Thanks! It looks like they do it because on our account page is states we are over but can avoid the charges by changing the plan with a direct link. The extra 10 numbers does look like a keeper though.
However, switching back to a lower plan cannot be backdated. So, if want to get back on a 700-min plan one should do it at the beginning of billing cycle.
Just putting in my 2 cents for the 1400 minute plan over the 700 minute plan. For $20 more per month, you get twice the minutes PLUS the ten Friends and Family, and an added bonus that you probably won't have to cut a conversation short or worry about what network someone is on. The two of us don't have a landline, call freely, using about 500 minutes per month. Without F&F, we would easily exceed 700. We just pick those who we call most often and the longest, non-VZW phones, put on the F&F list. It's nice not to cut it close and worry about overages any more.

That's just how the system operates.
Really, it prevents people from swapping back and forth every month from high plans, back down to a lower plan. If you need more, verizon will help you out, if you bought too much, you're on your own.
It's the same for data and txt features as well. Backdating can only be done when moving to plans/features that are equal or higher priced. That prevents people from backdating a change to a lower plan near the end of their billing cycle if they see they won't be using all of their minutes/txts/data.

Good to know. So from a consumer side of things it sounds like the best way to go about it all in cases like this would be to go to a higher plan (at any point during the billing period) and backdate it, and then right at the beginning of the next billing period (or perhaps one or a few after that) switch to a lower one.

I'm liking your reply and reasons to stay in the higher plan, and to top it off we have a 19% discount so it will cost $16.20 more, does seem worth it.
Thanks for the other reply informing us of having to switch back at the beginning of a cycle, good to know.
