    Question LG500g txting problem

I'm a long-time Tracfone user/fan and in May I upgraded to the (then brand new) LG500g. Unfortunately, after using it for awhile I started having problems with texts not being delivered. Sometimes I would have to resend a message once or even twice before it went through - each time paying .3 units! It got progressively worse to the point where I contacted Tech Support 2x, the second time asking for a replacement. Now I'm having problems with the replacement phone!

In my area calls are handled by AT&T and I've never had this problem with any of my other Tracfones. There are times I will be standing still and have it repeatedly cycle through signal/no signal - again my other phones didn't do this.

FYI: the texts that have problems are to Verizon phones but I don't know if that matters, it's just that I know a lot of people who use Verizon.

I've tried looking online to see if other people have had this problem but haven't found anything so I'm wondering if it's just me or if others here have experienced this. I'm seriously considering buying a new phone at this point even though mine is less than a year old!

    Thanks for any input!

Are you sure that your phone has an AT&T SIM? You can put your phone number into wirelessamberalerts.org and it will tell you who your carrier is. It won't sign you up for anything. Perhaps your phone is roaming and it is having trouble with texting.

I live on the fringe of an AT&T area and I've had problems sending/receiving texts with the LG900G, LG500G, and the LG420G just because those phones didn't have the greatest signal reception and I usually had 1 or 2 bars max on those phones. I've had no problems sending/receiving texts with my Motorola W376G and my current LG800G from the same location. The model phone could play a part.

Lisme has a very good point, are you positive your phone has an AT&T SIM (# starts with 890141)? Did you order the phone from Tracfone, they may have given you a T-Mobile SIM card.

When you say "after using it for awhile I started having problems with texts not being delivered" that sounds more like something changed with your network assuming it worked fine in the beginning.

Thanks for your replies. I checked again to see if the carrier changed but it's still AT&T. I've had several phones before this one and none had this problem: several Motorolas and my last was a LG600g which never did this. It's only been since switching to the 500g.

I'm at wits end because I know Tracfone will only trade phone for phone so I don't have much choice but to buy another phone after having "upgraded" in June.
