The company said it was raising its C$15 basic voice plan for feature phones to C$19 a month, BMO's Rhamey said.

    when will this take place?
25GB Cap? DIY Telnus prepaid/Koodo unlimited EVDO internet (for $10 per 2 months, to keep account "Active"), Max 3Mbps download speed, if you roam on Bell (free), then you get non-NATed IP

For customers like myself the only advantage that Public Mobile had at one point was price. Certainly the coverage is lacking and the phone selection is still rather wanting; running Android at under 3G speeds I don't find particularly appealing. But in the last 6 months or so their price advantage over Mobilicity and WIND|| has more or less evaporated. I have priced out a voice and data plan for a friend of mine's son fairly recently and he ended up on WIND for $5 a month less with more included.

I want PM to suceed but they'll need to break out of their current demographic soon to continue growth and they better have the plans to back it up.

I think they're counting on lte and a chunk of the 700mhz auction

The word 'Pentaband' means '5 Bands', from the Greek word 'pente' meaning '5'. For a phone to be pentaband it has to support 5 bands. If the phone has AWS support, it doesn't automatically mean that it is pentaband. The reason Wind and Mobilicity users like pentaband phones is because the reverse is true. We're not the only ones who like pentaband phones though, so please stop referring to phones that work on Wind and Mobilicity as pentaband. It causes unnecessary cofusion.

I think Public is gonna include caller Id with their $19 plan. That would be fair. The $15 price point was the biggest advantage they had over WIND and Mobilicity. But texting is such a big thing now that a voice-only plan has a limited market anyways.

Nope, all they did was raise the price by $4, caller ID is not included.

Clearly they arent satisfied with their current ARPU. They are improving the $25 and $35 plans. But nerfed the entry-level. They included unlimited 2G data in the $35. And included call control with the $25 (it was $24 and had caller id but no call control).

It's gonna be hard for Public to compete with WIND in the greater Toronto area zone. But WIND is burning through cash. Public is playing it smart. They have Chatr to worry about too though. Chatr's 25 and 35 are roughly equal. Except Public has 2G data in the 35. And Public has unlimited EV-DO data at 45 (30 for 6 months) while Chatr inky has 100 mb data.
