    Red face Rogers One Number

Does anyone know if this is something the follower at Telus will be doing?

They'll do it if they perceive it to be a threat. Too early to tell if people will be leaving Telus to go to Rogers due to Rogers One Number.

iOS5/iCloud syncs all my Apple devices. If I update my calendar on my iPhone it reflects the same update on my iPad. I can iMessage from my iPad and a copy also shows on my iPhone, etc.

I think RON is more inline with Google Voice than iOS 5

There is no comparison to iOS or iCloud.

Google voice is a service available in US and some Canadians.

The concept is one number your google voice number that will reach you at any number attached to your google voice account. All google voice calls are free in north America.

It also has enhanced voice mail, will email a transcribed voice mail, you can transfer call from one phone to another( ie landline to mobile if you are walking out the door) .

It also asks for caller to provide their name when calling.

You can send and receive text messages via web or smartphone client as well. Google voice app is awesome on android.

You can have up to 6 numbers attached to google voice.

Looks to me that Rogers one number is a cross between web based VoIP and google voice .

I was a fortunate one to get a google voice number I can use with my Telus cell. It certainly comes in handy if you have incoming call included, android has an app called gv callback that can make all calls as incoming for all of north America.

Google voice is an awesome service, I am sure Rogers sees the future that voice is another app that rides on an IP network. Rogers provides RON as a free service if you have a rogers number. It makes sense, for people who travel and carry a laptop, they can call and text back to canada for free.

I think the video portion is like iMessage.

    Hope this helps and clarifys.

    Dave
