Any good signal booster will do the job for you . There are lots out there .Do your research because there are lots of duds too. One thing to know is Virgin Moblie is a division of Sprint . Sprint operates on 1900 Frequency . So make sure whatever you amplifier you decide on does 1900 mhz

Some people have had good luck with swapping their PRL to get better coverage.

If there's no coverage whatsoever, I am not sure if this is gonna make any different.

If you use a booster, you'll have to position the antenna where you get a good signal. If you have 1 bar in your apartment, how many bars do you get standing by the window? If the signal is good by the window, then a Zboost (by Wi-Ex) indoor booster will probably work. The YX-400P is a single piece model that has the receiving antenna in the same box as the transmit antenna. It's convenient, but it will only carry the signal from the window into the room you are currently in. I put one in my daughter's apartment bedroom, and it gives her phone a little boost...enough to prevent dropped calls. At home, I have a YX-540, a 2-piece unit that comes with a window mounted (suction cup) antenna and 50' cable to the base unit. Again, if you have a good signal at the window, it will carry the signal into multiple rooms in the house. I connected an outdoor 1900Mhz antenna to mine, and get 5 bars in the house (only 1-2 bars without the booster.) If outside antennas are not possible, then I'd take a good reading near your windows.

Keep in mind that these boosters will only move a signal from outside to inside your apartment. No signal outside, then you're out of luck.

A good booster will amplify a weak signal and make it useable . The Wi-ex products are not good amplifiers . If you have a strong donor signal they are adequate . But they do not work well if at all with a weak donor signal
