    Bell samsuang Galaxy SII in US

    I have a 10 days trip to Disney World, FL coming up. Bell data roaming is ripoff so I am thinking to buy a sim card from US providers to use data/voice.

    I use a Bell sgs2 and wondered which network my bell SII could run on?

    Thanks,
    Mike

    It will run (at least) on T-Mobile and AT&T. Problem is, it's most likely locked to Bell and won't take another SIM card. That is assuming that you have not yet unlocked it.

    Once it's unlocked, though, it might run on other carriers in the US. AT&T and T-Mo at the LEAST.

    @can3gxw, thanks for the info

    someone told me that bell's SGS2 doesn't have t-mobile AWS bands, so it would be 2G not 3g if I used t-mobile sim card. Is this right?

    askmike,

    Greetings.

    The Samsung Galaxy S II from Bell (GT-I9100M) has no AWS band support, so it would roam on at&t mostly - unless you are out of the at&t footprint (GSM and UMTS) and there is GSM coverage with T-Mobile.

    Have it unlocked it first if you do not want to pay for the roaming $$$

    I knew someone else would chime in on the true specs of the SGS II - As I mentioned, I don't have one so I couldn't speak to that. I do, however, live beside the US border and travel into Maine very frequently. As soon as I approach, I start roaming on T-Mobile. If I travel down the I-95, it switches from T-Mobile to AT&T.

    That's why I was able to speak directly to the whole "Bell is compatible with T-Mo and ATT". I just forgot for a few minutes that different hardware might have different radios and data connections.

    Thanks HC.

    can3gxw,

    T-Mobile charges many carriers less for roaming than at&t, so do not be surprised it prefers T-Mo - even without 3G.

    Situation at one border zone does not reflect the situation elsewhere.
