1) Is there a monthly charge to use the Airave? Because i saw in some post that there was a charge for it monthly.
2) Does this machine work OK? Will it give me the reception i would need in case i don't have service?
1 - There is a monthly charge, not sure what it is, since I don't get charged for mine, since I have cruddy coverage. If you have bad coverage, Sprint will likely give you one free (they'll want it back if you cancel service, or leave Sprint, or charge you like 160.00 for it if you don't return it).
2 - Mine works pretty well, five bars on all my phones.
Oh i see does it help with the 3G data speeds or just reception?
Depends on which device you get. The older one (Samsung) only helps with voice, whereas the newer one (Airvana), does voice and data. I'm not sure Sprint even has the older ones anymore, so chances are you'd get the newer one. With it, I get good voice and data, speeds up to, if not over 2mb/s.
Oh wow nice, now this question if its ok to ask here, between AT&T and Sprint, i know they are 2 different service companies but does Sprint get better service where AT&T wouldn't. Does Sprint have more coverage usually more than AT&T?

Couldn't say to be honest. I've had both AT&T and Sprint, and both work fairly well for me where I live, however when I travel, AT&T worked a bit worse (in Las Vegas I had little to no service in most of the casinos, and at the events I went to, whereas Sprint worked, but wasn't ultra fast, not that it even is to begin with).
Sprint's been cutting coverage down in some areas, so it really depends on where you are, and where you go often.. for me, I go to Vegas every few months, and other areas around me (in New Mexico), and for me AT&T didn't work as well as Sprint has (keep in mind again that Sprint's data in some areas is almost unuseable, without my Airave, my data is pretty much that way), and I thought AT&T's data speeds were pretty decent (when they worked, which is/was where I live, and pretty much none of the places I travel to). Another factor is that Sprint still offers unlimited data (again in most cases it won't matter if you can't actually *use* it).
I see gotcha so basically im better off using their 14-day trial as users on this board suggested. One thing i like about Sprint is the GV integration. I wonder if you know how it works? If not its ok i can find out more about it. I heard that if you cancel Sprint then the Integration will not cancel out. Hope this is true.

I'd try it for 14 days, just make sure you keep track of the # of days, honestly, I'd go more with 10-12 days, since Sprint's kinda sneaky. If you're getting the phone in store, its pretty straightforward, 14 days from the day you get it, however if you're ordering it, some will tell you the 14 days starts from the time you do so, and its activated/shipped, others will say its from the time you actually *get it*.
As far as integration goes, I used it for a day or so, really didn't prefer it very much, but depending on what device you get, there are tons of apps that let you use it even w/o integration. On my iPhone I use it mainly for texting, for people that I don't want to have my cell number. As far as what happens when you cancel out Sprint with Google Voice integration, I have no idea. I imagine, or would think that it'd cancel out your account, if you've made your google voice number your sprint number, I'm sure someone else can chime in on that, or there may be some info on the google voice website.
Really? I have an android, so what app would you know i can integrate the 2 numbers? Because i would really like to do this on my android and soon to be iPhone.

It's been awhile since I've used an Android device. I think the Google Voice app by Google was fairly decent, only thing I didn't like was that for calls it'd use random numbers to call you, to initiate the call, this didnt work well as it'd eat peak minutes (during the day at least), even though I had the A-List feature with AT&T, and even when I had Sprint (prior to getting Sprint to Home, or Pick 3 - both of which allowed you to set calls from/to your google voice # as free)..
It made it so that all calls displayed your google voice # (again if you have A-List or Pick 3 with Sprint/ATT, it works great, because calls are pretty much free, don't use peak/nights/etc).
Gotcha but what i meant was to use the app for texting and calls with my same number. Im not worried about making a call with the app because i can use the number for free landline calls without costing my cell minutes using Obi.

1) Yes. Sprint charges the same administrative fee and local taxes for an Airave just like they do for a regular line of service. About a year ago someone at Sprint got the bright idea to assign a phone number to the Airaves so that they could add a couple extra dollars to your bill each month. Previously there was a $4.99/mo charge but that was easily waived by calling CS. I guess so many people got out of paying for the Airaves that Sprint came up with this method to guarantee a revenue stream from them.
2) I have no complaints about ours. The Airavana Airave (which is the 3G model) allows you to choose a small, medium, or large coverage area in your account prefs. We have ours set to medium and have coverage to the end of our driveway and out in the backyard. One downside to any Airave is that they block Sprint MVNO customers like Virgin Mobile, Boost etc from getting a signal when in range of the Airave. So if anyone in your household uses a Sprint prepaid service dont get the Airave or they will never get service at your home.

Actually that function was never set up on the back end to work. Changing the setting online won't actually make any changes to the coverage area. It cannot be changed from the default setting which is medium even if you select large or small.
