Activate HTC Desire

I have an old Desire that my son would like to use. He has a data plan and everything for his current phone (some LG or Sammy...I don't remember). Can I activate the Desire for his use on my own? Or, do I have to take it into a store to get it done?

Call customer service and they can do it for you. You definitely don't need to go to a store.

And I hope he enjoys trying to manage the storage space on that thing, lol. I got so tired of my Desire. It got to the point where I could not experiment with new apps at all and could barely fit all the critical apps I really wanted. It's probably better for performance than a budget phone, but the storage thing is a real issue. You could always try putting Cyanogenmod on it.
