I just called Wind and got my unlock code for my Nokia C7.
But since it is the C7's product code itself: 059F545 that is being blocked in Canada then the unlock code means squat. So now I am working on the "unofficial" way of getting Belle installed.
Here's an update on Belle on my Wind C7-00...
I installed the European Grey Frost image (I'm recalling the name off the top of my head).
There are many reports that the Belle update is now sucking battery power for standby. I experienced the same things with my C7 -- phone wouldn't last a day on standby only (and this is just with checking for new mail messages every 15 minutes).
The solution was simple -- uninstall Microsoft Communicator (pretty useless anyway) and turn off "Maps Improvement" -- My first impressions of standby time is that it's now better than it was on Anna.
It took me a couple days playing around with the Phoenix Software to finally get Belle. (Kept having to reconnect the usb and restart the software before it finally took.) After a week of using Belle I really like the simpler settings and roll down tab. Things just seem snappier and more streamlined.
I noticed previously that Anna also burnt through my battery in two days also on my Wind C7-00 even after turning every darn thing off. (A very useful prgm I found to tame errant hidden startup programs is the free security prgm Netqin Pro v5. In addition to it being a firewall and virus checker it has a whole host of other features- especially one that shows and kills any app/prgm that you do not want to launch or go online without your permission.)
I also found Vlingo and Ovi Maps wifi autostarts- so I disabled those along with a whole bunch of other useless programs.
Anyone able to update/upgrade their Nokia N8, C7, E6 etc. capable phones from Symbian Anna to the new Nokia Belle OS ?
Yes, my n8 was from Rogers, it has been unlocked last year, meanwhile i switched to Mobilicity, then I debranded to Anna with phoenix because Rogers didn't allow to update to Anna, then because same happened with Belle on feb 08/2012 i was not available to get it I was lucky enough to find a tip on nokia forum that I have to use Nokia Care Suite 4.0, I had a bit hard time to get a working download but finally, that installed on my desktop, not on laptop, somehow Nokia Care Suite is not installing on pc with had previously phoenix, then I installed NCC, open it connect your phone to pc, chose product code change, then chose variant 0598986 uk_ireland version , then tap start and in a bit more that 1/2 hour you will have Belle on your n8, do not forget to leave the NCC to do that 5-6 check out of your phone on the top of screen.Good luck, My N8 rocks now with Belle; is like you got a new and different phone. No laggs, no stucks, no hangs, no reboots, only some apps that are not compatible, hopefully yet only.
