I found this update on the link you posted.
AT&T Nexus S is not supported! Only T-Mobile and Retail versions of the Nexus S GSM are supported with this update for now.
The Nexus S version that we use in Canada is the same model as the AT&T version so I would not install this update. And yes ICS 4.0.5 OTA will be released sometime in March to the Nexus S and Galaxy Nexus
I just flashed my Captivate with ICS, and it seems pretty slick so far. Its too bad Samsung is never going to release it for these phones, it runs just fine on it.
I had a Nexus s (Koodo) on Sasktel and flashed a 4.0.3 Rom on to it as soon as it was released. My wife now has the Nexus S and I have a Galaxy Nexus. I have both running on 4.0.3. Both phones are rooted. I know you are not allowed to link to other sites here so all I will say is search xda and read, read, read. I would have Galaxy Nenus on 4.0.4 but with the Manhattan rom and leankernel, I am getting 3-4 days of battery life with average phone use. I don't want to mess with that right now experementing. Whatever you do when instructions say "back up"......BACK UP. If you don't know what that means.......READ MORE!!! lol
I have yet to find a custom rom without issues.
Waiting a few weeks seems like a long time, but in the end it is worth it. Stock works better IMO. Stock doesn't brick your phone. Stock updates don't wipe your device either.
Running 4.04 almost stock with busybox an SU smooth as silk works with MTS no problems. I have run tons of different rom variants without any issues. IMO Cyanogen is the most stable rom out their currently.
From XDA... instructions are spread across a couple of pages. I installed it using these instructions last week and it's been running great. I've noticed that battery use in standby has improved quite a bit and that the auto-correct while typing text messages is a lot more intelligent. Very happy with the improvements.
Be sure that you have the 9020A model. I do not know if the update works on the other version of the Nexus S.
1) Download the file and place it in the root of your SD Card.
2) Shut down the phone and press Volume Up and Power to go into recovery.
3) Choose Recovery
4) If an Android Logo with an exclamation mark appears, press power and Volume Up.
5) Chosse apply Update and select the file.
6) Wait until the process is done.
Make sure that yopu have at least 50% of battery power.
I just read an article on mobilesyrup saying that google just released the 4.04 OTA updates for Canadian carriers. Since I am on MTS and MTS doesn't sell the Nexus S I'm guessing I wont receive the OTA update then? I'll have to do it manually? Like what drewbop was talking about.

He is talking about a custom rom with a rooted phone. Different than a OTA update.....read a lot to get it done properly!!!
