Question Wind Mobile:Horrible number porting experience, continues...

Wind Mobile:Horrible number porting experience, continues...

    Case # C7764017

8th Feb 2012: I was so excited to sign up with Wind Mobile and started LNP process as my contract with Telus expired on 7th Feb. I didn’t know that this excitement not going to last even for a night. I was told that porting will take around 3 hours or so while signing up. All info i provided for porting process was correct.

9th Feb 2012: Morning- Even after 12 hours my port was not complete. I called customer service at least 4 times today and every time was informed that your number has successfully ported to Wind and facing a small technical problem which will be resolved soon. I power cycled handset number of times, that reminded me that English Tech geek TV serial in which tech support always asks customer to restart your computer first...

In afternoon i was told that the there is an issue with porting and back office will resolve the issue with in 24-48 hours. So which mean i am not going to have my number working for at least two full days...

I called again tonight and to my surprise found out that NOW it can take somewhere between 2 to 8 working days to sort this issue out. (Can you imagine?? not having your number active for more then a week?)

I requested chat with supervisor and requested to find out the exact technical issue. The answer i got was beyond comprehension. The voice feature on my account was not properly applied!! so technical department has to fix it which will take 8 days.( btw supervisor failed to convenience why it is going to take around 8 days, technically it should not!).

Finally supervisor opens up and says “We are dealing with LOTS of porting problem, hence it will take days to fix your problem”, means backlog.

As of now, no one is able to reach me via my old number and according to Wind Supervisor, may be not for next 8 days.. My number is ported out from Telus, so i am STUCK in middle..

Has anyone else faced the same issue? And how this got resolved?

    Sincerely.

    One disappointed new bird.

I've done many Wind and Mobi ports, and the only one that took longer than a few hours was my porting of the Rogers home phone to Wind . And that was two days. But I still got all calls.

weird.. i ported my rogers account 2years ago and it took 2 hours.. i ported to Mobi from wind, took about the same... ported back to wind from Mobi and it didnt even take 5mins and my number was ported over..

you should for sure complain and get compensated for this inconvenience since its a problem on Wind part.

When I ported in, it took 3-4 days, numerous calls, and them having to make a new account and migrating my stuff over to begin the port in again lol. Luckily, the number finally ported in at 11:20 PM the night before my mobi acc was supposed to suspend

    Porting number to Wind

I think this is case by case. I have ported from Bell, Telus, Fido ..... none of them took no more than 2 hours.

were you on a month to month plan when you ported? or did you give notice? cuz porting out the day after the contract is a bad idea... if you didn't make arrangements for another plan on telus.
Managed to get Mobilicity to act and improve on 4 items.

You want to talk about porting? I posted from bell to telus and though data worked I couldnt send or receive calls. I talked to them daily for two weeks and each day they suggested I open a second pay as you go account at my expense in the mean time. After two weeks they offered to give me a new number and my data addon fre forever. I said no, I want the addon and my number. another week goes by and they admit the number is lost forever. I got a refund for the phone and had to fight to get them to not charge me an etf fee. I will not touch a telus service nor sign a service conract ever again after that experience.
