Yes, it is installed, but it has a different icon FWIW. Its a red triangle with an exclamation point on a white background.

You can disable all alerts except Presidential.

There is also a database associated with CMAS that has nothing in it except your user applied settings.

You are barking up the wrong tree though...there is much more comprehensive data being logged by the Blur Data Collector service.

You can also disable that and/or remove it if you are rooted.

Have you looked around on your DX to see what is going on under the hood?

If you learn how to manage your device better with root and a reasonable understanding of the OS, you could probably take a much more active role in controlling your personal data.

For a subsidized upgrade do you think it would make more sense to get the SIII and then sell it right away and then use the cash to buy a used D4? Seems that would get almost enough dollars to buy 2 used D4s.

Not a bad thought. But, for me, the D4 screen is just too small to be practical any more. I desperately want and need a QWERTY handset, but the D4 simply won't do.

Maybe they'll slap a keyboard on the RAZR HD and call it the D4G MAXX HD. That's what I need.

When in Q3 is the predicted date for the D4 to get ICS? Any chance of July or August?

If history is any indication, I would be very surprised if it came out before Sept 30.

Which is very close to the rumored release timeframe for Jelly Bean...

IMO, the screen issue is getting to much negative press. After comparing it to the Rezound, Nexus, and Razor I don't see much of a difference. Movies look great, the interface looks great, photos look great, text looks great. Sure text scrolling has a screen door effect but I can't read text when its scrolling anyway so its a moot point.

That maybe, but the screen pales in comparison 2 recent devices, such as the one series, xperia ion, SGS3, galaxy note, and many others. It has 2 do with not so gr8 contrast, viewing angle, inferior gamut 2 just about any super lcd or amoled, and of course the resolution has something wanting. Comparing 2 some 2 yr old dvc, it looks gr8, but compare it side 2 side w/ some that came in late 2011 on, it looks really bad.....

Me neither on Bionic. What bothers me most about the press: If they are going to discuss an issue such as screens, discuss every aspect of it. I have never seen one single mention in any press of any aspect other than looks. Nothing about battery life, nothing about sunlight, nothing about burn-in, nothing about durability. Only a couple of buzzwords.

And aside from all that -- it's too small.

I tend 2 agree, 1 yr ago, I thougt that the perf screen size would b between 4" and 4.3". Recently I'm gravitating toward 4.5" as being the ideal size.

I hope that the droid series continues to evolve with the times, as people want better media consumption expr that can only come from larger screens...

I'd rather have a Droid 2 with LTE. IMO, these new phones are all much too large. If I wanted a tablet to carry around I'd buy one.

Agreed. Yes, a 7" tablet would be ideal. Do you know of one that's 1080p non-PenTile with tiny bezels, ICS, US 700C LTE data, and vzw CDMA telephony?
If you do, I'll take your advice and buy it. That's pretty much what I'm looking for. That, or a large phablet slider.

I liked the D3 keyboard better than the D2, because of the 5-row format with dedicated number keys.
If the D4 had been an updated D3 with LTE and a 4.3" display, I'd have one now and would be using it, instead of spending all my time searching HoFo for something better.

    I absolutely agree with you.

The D4 is right on the edge of being too large. I would certainly not want a phone that's even one mm bigger.

As you said, if one needs a larger screen, then simply buy a tablet.
