$25
200 day
1000 evening from 5pm, weekend
CID
Unlimited incoming
$5: 200 SMS
-$5 credit
has expired.
Call in and they offered me this:
200 day
unlimited ewe 5pm
f2f
caller
VM
2500 sms
$28
I believed the offered plan is $17.50 base plan which is below the $25 min requirement to get smartphone HUP, so I didn’t take the offered plan. I plan to get an iPhone 5 so I decide to keep my $25 base plan. And Fido agreed to extend the $5 credit for 6 more months.
My $25 is plan is perfect for me now. I don’t need VM. Just need CID which is included in the $25 voice plan; not as an add on (which cost $8 now) as well as the unlimited incoming. Don’t mind getting more SMS, but if I get data, I can TXT using data.
Question 1: Should i be keeping my $25 plan or that offered plan?
Question 2: Once iPhone 5 is released, I plan to get 6GB data ($30). And switch to the flex data plan ($10) a few days into my contract. Will I have to pay for the DECF? Is it still $200?
They offered you $25 200', unl F2F & E+W, 2500sms, VM; with $7CID (now $8 with WC); and a $4 credit on CID
The bulk of the phone subsidy (all but $75 IIRC) is now on the data credit and thus the penalty is significantly greater (can be over $400) for triggering the DECF/ADSRF early into your agreement

Even if I’m not cancelling my voice, just the data?
New DECF is now $440.00 for iPhones... Should be around the same in the future...

When you renew the agreement, Fido give you an agreement credit of $490.00 on a iPhone 4S 16GB. The voice plan portion of the credit is $50.00 & the data option portion is $440.00.
From that point a $25.00/Month mandatory data option is required. if ever you would like to remove the data option only, the DECF is $440.00. if you cancel then entire agreement (Closing your account or buyout because you want a new handset discount) the ECF/DECF is $490.00.

So if i keep data and cancel voice, it’ll only be $50? Or in order to have data, I need to have voice?

It's a nice racket where they tie the data to the voice so that you cannot cancel the voice portion without automatically canceling the data portion (and hence the data cancelation fee) whether you to cancel the data or not. Now that the carrier offer data plans on their own (for sticks and tablets) it might be time for the Competition Bureau to look into whether they are tying illegally or not. It's amazing what the wireless industry is able to get away with, that would be illegal in other industries, simply by claiming "business model".
Carrier unlocked iPhone 4
Unlimited airtime, Unlimited CAN/US long distance, Unlimited SMS to CAN/US wireless numbers
2500 Call Forwarding minutes to CAN/US numbers
CiD, 6GB
Google Voice for visual voice mail with message transcription, conditional greetings, unlimited messages (vs 35 message cap), remote retrieval from any PC or phone, no auto-purge after 10 days and most importantly no $7-$8 charge.
If you want, I can verify in your account to confirm what you currently have and what was offered.
I have just sent you a private message here, feel free to reply to it if you need help.
Have a nice day!
