i dont understand. i just recieved my lg optimus phone last week and it wouldnt work in my area. they told me that the android phone uses only the sprint network.
you can buy an android phone on verizon network and activate it on Page Plus cellular (vz towers). I just bought an original Moto Droid on Amazon, and will activate it next week.

The Androids they sell in the store are on Sprint's network. The SIM card you can buy from their website will allow you to use any AT&T or T-Mobile or unlocked phone you choose.
I've never had a phone with a sim but I think you can get an ATT sim card from StraightTalk and put it in either an ATT phone or an "unlocked" GSM phone that is not tethered to any carrier. Assuming you want to be using ATT network and not Tmobile.
how do u install a sim card? can you just pull it out of one phone and stick in in another unlocked phone and it will work with doing nothing else?
yes that's the general idea behind SIM cards - as long as the phone is compatible with the network you want to use it on, it's good to go.
Phone functionality will work without any effort. Getting data or MMS to work might be a little more effort if the phone doesn't know the APNs (Access Point Names) info for your specific carrier, but those can be found on the internet or better yet straight from the carrier, if they are nice enough to give it out (dunno about American carriers).
