help me finding the correct japanese phone for me

Hello. I've been doing some research about japanese phones, mostly Sharp ones. It seems that the "perfect phone" does not exist (the perfect phone to me would be the SH002 or 936SH (don't know if it's the same model) but with Android, because that phone has the flip or clamshell form that I love, plus waterproof, plus a solar panel (damm why couldn't it have android ). Anyways, the 007SH looks like a nice option, but I've reading the post which has about 30 pages dedicated to it, and it's almost impossible to unlock, and the battery life isn't good AT ALL.
I would like you to recommend me a phone which has that flip or clamshell form, which can be unlocked, has a DECENT (not asking for "excelent") battery life, and which has GPS. And if it has android, even better.

OR, if you could tell me where to buy an already unlocked 007SH, and a good extended life battery for it, that would be awesome too. ... I have found a great phone too but it hasn't been released yet, and there's no way that I buy it: the samsung w999, it's awesome but it is expected to be more at than 1400 dollars

I don't know where you got '007 = almost impossible to unlock', because any normal hypersim will work with it

Battery life is ok. You can get half a day of heavy usage and eek out a day's worth if you're a bit lighter on the data intensive apps. Just bring a Sanyo Eneloop 5000mah portable charger with you and you'll be fine for sure

Sounds like what you want is the SH7218U- made by Sharp for the Chinese market. Looks like a SH-01B (one of the prettier keitais imo), has Android, has GPS, and from what I've read has a pretty good battery life & performance balance.

Or PM 'kokos' and see if he can help you import a 007, unlock it and send it to you. I hear he's working on a deal with one of the members in Japan for a steady supply of phones- I'd PM him and see what he has to say.

The SH7218U looks very nice, but the only negative point it has is that it's processor isn't very good; 600Mhz isn't very much ...... I've discovered they were gonna make a new version of it with a 800Mhz processor (I wonder why didn't they put 1ghz), and with Android 2.3 (the sh7218u has 2.2) called SH7218T. Anyways, I've been checking prices and they're kinda insane ... I mean, I know that I'm not gonna get any good japanese or chinese phone for 200 dollars but 600 looks like too much considering it's specs (I found that price in ebay). ... taking that into account, it's unlikely that the SH7218T would be available for, let's say, 400 dollars so....... I think I'm just gonna give up and buy a more common mobile phone (motorola, samsung, etc) ... it would have been nice to have a flip android phone for a reasonable price

Or you could get a keitai to use on the weekends or special times.... More like a backup phone.

    It's all good (^_^)

LMAO XD no way I spend +500 dollars on a phone which I would use on special times xD. If I buy a phone, it will be an everyday phone . And to me backup phone will ALWAYS equal to the previous phone I just had (in my case, if I buy a new phone, my backup phone would be my current Nokia N82)

Samsung Captivate Glide looks like an interesting option to me, now I have just to figure out if it does really come with Gorilla Glass or not (I've opened a new thread).

PM zerox678 - he's based in China and runs a keitai business. He might be able to help you get the SH7218T for less than eBay pricing.

Well in that case it's not going to work for him at all. He said he was checking prices though so I assumed it would work... and you know what they say about assuming.
