Just imagine how much more there revenue would be up if they had more that 2 iPhones and got some android love. May be with these earnings they should deploy some more towers to cover dead spots and get the SaskTel roaming agreement in place.

Having the iPhone was probably a game changer for them, but they will need to continue adding newer smartphones. Such as the new iPhone, and such as the latest Android phones.
If they keep doing that, they shouldn't have any problem.

Their smartphone selection is still awful, nothing has changed since the summer. They may have the most customers in Manitoba, but not the most educated.
But everybody just wants an iPhone according to MTS, right?
Although they should carry more Android devices, it doesn't really matter to me, I'll never sign a contract again and will gladly buy a phone outright.

Talk about sour grapes!
I did my research - getting the phone I wanted, unlocked, and the plan I needed, for half the cost as elsewhere... trust me, I did my homework. I wouldn't be surprised if there are dozens or hundreds like me using MTS as well...

The point is that half of the people who post in the MTS forum are using unlocked devices purchased from either Telus, Rogers, Bell or a US carrier. Remember when the Nexus S launched on Telus? I can recall seeing several posts in this forum from people who purchased the device from Telus. If MTS were to offer a larger selection of devices, revenue would increase even more. And people wouldn't feel like they are forced to use MTS.

A little birdie told me this recently.
MTS had a sit down with MTS Connect owners (IDC, Elite, 4L etc...) and they were demanding android as well.
Funny. It isn't just us.
You guys keeping forgetting that in order for MTS to buy Android devices, a manufacturer has to be willing to sell them Android devices.
Of course, MTS could buy their devices from BDI (Bell Distribution Inc.) at incredibly inflated prices, but they would have to pass those cost onto their subs. I don't see someone agreeing to pay $199.99 for a Galaxy Nexus on a 3 year term when all the other players ie Bell, Telus and Rogers are subsidizing the phones to their customers at $99.99 on a 3 year term.
It all comes down to buying power and MTS being a stand alone, just doesn't have the clout needed to demand lower handset pricing from manufacturers.
