I have a question for this. I have a T-Mobile USA version of Samsung Galaxy S2 carrier unlocked and currently using the $30 T-Mobile monthly plan. Since T-Mobile's coverage is pretty inconsistent in my area, I'm considering to switch back to AT&T which has good reception in my past experience.
Are you saying that this phone can use Straight Talk's AT&T BYOD's SIM card and still can get AT&T's 3G/4G signals and not just stuck with EDGE/2G? I'm not sure how the ATT and T-Mobile BANDs work.

Also, I'd like to add since I see the confusion here, if you go to the link I just posted above take note of the 2g and 3g bands. Some people get confused that the specs they find list 850 and and 1900 there that it will work with the same 3g bands which is incorrect. Always check on the 3g vs. 2g bands.

Will unlocked verizon phones with GSM work with straight talk sims? I'm thinking if that works I can get a bad esn phone off ebay for cheap.

Do you mean like the Droid Pro Global? Yes it will work but there is an extra step you have to follow to unlock the phone's GSM bands. There is someone here who has done it and runs the phone on ST if you can find it.

Well, I haven't actually bought an E6 yet, so it's not mine as of yet. Until someone confirms it will work with the BYO plan I wouldn't risk the $300+ investment. I know Amazon will take returns but it's a hassle.
I was sorta hoping someone on here who's really into phone testing had tried it out yet, but with this being a relatively new plan by SS I guess phones that aren't considered major players in the game these days take a while before someone plays with them like this.
I did find this in a review of the E6 online, if it gives away anything for those with the tech knowledge I obviously lack:

Well I did some googling to see if I can help. I know that for AT&T 3G (but appears as 3.5G on my 5800) you need 850 and 1900 for AT&T aleast that is what I learned when I bought my 5800 couple or years back.
Since the E6 does those other frequencies 1700/2100 it should do TMobile as well. .
I been researching the different phones and I been looking at the Sony Ericsson MT15a Xperia Neo (AT&T unlocked) and looking at pro and cons for this phone. Atrix is the other highly recommended phone too. I really wanted to keep under 275 on a new phone but I am like 900 points away on my credit card from being able to get a $100 Amazon Gift Card so this may open my opportinity in 3 or 4 months for me. Comments welcome on Sony Ericsson. I am also awaiting for the Nokia Lumia 900 if there will be an unlocked version after AT&T intros it.

Overall AT&T has better coverage areas, but I think T-mobile's "fake 4G" service is a little faster when you can get it. AT&T has been ticking people off lately with their "throddle you at 2gig" data stuff, while T-mobile I think allows you 5 gigs before they do it (?). Not sure how this translates if you're using SS piggybacking on their service, though.
While the Nokia E6 isn't exactly cutting edge, I do like the overall design of it, and if you're the type who likes Blackberry style phones that are a bit different, that might be the one for me. It's like a Blackberry, but the OS is maybe a bit better, and at least it has a front facing camera (which so far NO Blackberry seems to have). So long as Skype video works on it, it might be an option for me.

I am not really sure, but you can Google search "TBH Radio Unlock" to see kinda what you may have to deal with if you want a Verizion branded Razr working on ST. The radio unlock + phone unlock would be worst case. Best case is it may work with a simple unlock. Either way it is almost certainly possible, but not for the faint of heart.

On AT&T towers. On Tmo towers you'll get Edge. You need 700/2100 radios to get 3G/4G on Tmo towers.

You can get a GSM version of the Motorola Razr. That will work with the ATT ST sim. It picks up the 850/900/1900/2100 3g/HSPA+ signal from ATT.

8.28Mb/s looks nice. Have you noticed any data capping w/ the T-Mobile chip? I spoke with Straight Talk and the customer service rep said there is no cap (I sense this was a bit of hand waving.)
If this is the case, perhaps this is a better deal than Simple Mobile's $60/month unlimited 4G plan (which uses the T-Mobile) network for those with T-Mobile phones.

I haven't noticed any data capping yet, but I am not a big data hog. I actually get the same level of reception/speed as I did with my TMO prepaid. I do average about 7.5-8 mb/s around town.Since Verizon doesn't have LTE here, its probably the fastest avg connection speed I can get. I understand that Simple Mobile throttles their users pretty bad but I could be wrong about that.
