    Jumping Ship (Re: Manitoba Service)

    After six years, the time has come for me to part ways with Telus. I had such a great experience with them whenever I was in Ontario, but the lack of coverage in Manitoba has become a dealbreaker. Anyway, though it feels like it will never come, I hope the expansion happens quickly for anyone else who is still hanging in there!

    Curve 8330 (Telus CDMA, monthly):
    -450 daytime, 6pm e&w, my10, 6gb, CID, VM, unlim msg, 200 LD minutes = ~$85/month after tax

    ---->

    Bold 9900 (Rogers HSPA, 3yr):
    -500 daytime, 6pm e&w, my10, 6gb, CID, VM, unlim msg, $0.10/min North American LD = ~$103/month after tax (+ ~$20 for LD)

    Yep. I switched to Rogers last month after being with Telus since 2008 and I've never been happier. Having coverage everywhere in MB is great.

    TELUS is definitely my #1 choice for a cell phone carrier, but I don't know how you guys ever put up with the appalling coverage in Manitoba. I'd never do it...

    I have 5 months left on my contract with telus in Manitoba, been with them since 1999 , and I'm seriously thinking about jumping and go with rogers but my problem will getting the same plan that I have with telus, it's a good plan.
    250 Min + 100 Min = 20$
    Unlimited after 6 + WKnds
    unlimited text = Free
    VM and CID = Free
    100 Min LD = Free
    6 Gb Data = 30$

    50$ + SAF + 911 + tax = about 64$

    Have you been in Manitoba since 1999? Because I'm almost certain Telus didn't have service in MB in 1999.

    I've been with Telus in Manitoba since 1999. Not sure when they entered the market, but it was right around then.

    They didn't have any stores here then. I saw a media release dated 2001 on the Telus site that said they were going to be opening stores in Polo Park and St. Vital.

    And there's my first dropped call

    I had a call drop on Telus once. They gave me a fairly substantial credit on my next bill, without me saying anything....

    ... That's not going to happen this time, is it?

    (LOL)

    ... And 1.5 hours later, I'm still trying to get my plan switched to what I was promised when I signed up.

    Great.

    ... And apparently they can't do anything so I have to call in tomorrow to talk to a manager.

    So:
    1. Telus has great customer service, but poor coverage in Manitoba;
    2. Rogers has full coverage but poor service (dropped calls) and poor customer service; and
    3. MTS isn't a real option (416 number, only temporarily in MB, not competitive on a nation-wide scale anyway)

    ... What's a guy to do?

    You actually called in and got a credit for a dropped call? Wow I didn't think they would do that as service is not guaranteed.

    I'm waiting for WIND. I love the customer service Telus provides, but the lack of coverage is a deal breaker. Looks like Telus also got rid of their $50 Winnipeg plan and created a $55 Winnipeg plan. Pricing isn't even that competitive with the poor coverage.
