looking for a 9860/9810 live demo unit at a rogers store.
hey all im looking at either one mostly for screen size (vusially impaired), but also im kind of worried about going from a full keyboard to a touch so wanted to know if rogers had a live demo unit of either phone. i know the 9860 is bigger but the 9810 is newer. i have a 9700 right now.

Any store should be able to show you one even without a live demo unit. If not then they obviously don't want your business. Seeing as you have not mentioned where you live, rather then post I would be calling stores... Unless you want feedback due to being visually impaired. Both phones came out around the same time.
sorry DH. i live in richmond hill. They have the dummy ones but its hard to judge them because for the 9860 you cant get a feel for the screen or keyboard. i have a corp plan so i would have to call in to get the phone anyways but i wanted to go see it at a store before i make my decision.
Like I said. Unless they do not have live demos and are out of stock, they should be able to show you one. If you mention that you are looking to do a new activation, I am sure most stores would put one in your hand. Just don't mention that you have a corporate account or that you are just looking and they should help you with no problem.
Unfortunately a lot of store reps are motivated by their commission and numbers. As upgrades don't really count towards anything they won't go out of their way to help out. It's horrible customer service. I'm sure if Rogers paid even half as much commission for upgrades as they do for activations then you wouldn't run into this situation :/
yea i do have one around. i'll go check it out thanks. was talking to a couple people who are in the cell phone business and was told to not get the devices because the battery life is horrible apparently, but will go check it out anyways.
I think the battery issue is mostly with OS7 and hoping that updates will improve the battery life on newer BB devices. If you are looking for a bigger screen then I would also consider Android devices (Infuse, Glide if you want a physical keyboard or the Note) or get a Playbook.
im sticking to BB cuz of bbm. i think for now i just may keep my 9700 and wait for the updates to be done on the os7 devices before i go ahead. My bro has the 9900 and he hates it. always freezes, lags, horrible battery life. tried wiping the os and doing a fresh install but still same problems.

Normally I don't recommend them but as mentioned above if you want a bigger screen why not get a Playbook? I've seen the new OS that is coming out for the Playbook and it's a lot better. Also the price has dropped a lot... and it will work on your 9700 and on other BlackBerry devices if you decide to upgrade once they have updates.
im not too familiar with them. how would they work in terms of data? besides tethering do u always have to be around wifi? plus im assuming u cant make calls from the playbook right so i would have to carry 2 devices around?
