Exhibit II on Straight Talk BYOD with AT&T SIM?

Amazon and Phone Arena both list The Exhibit II as having the 850 and 1900 MHz bands. Does this mean I could get Exhibit II and the Straight Talk AT&T SIM and receive 3G on AT&T's network?

You must make sure that the 850 MHz and 1900 MHz bands are the 3G/WCDMA/HSPA bands and not simply the GSM bands. In this case, that phone qualifies for AT&T 3G service.

Yes, the Exhibit 2 4G works on both T-Mobile and AT&T HSPA+ networks. You will have to unlock it before using it with AT&T

Just to clarify:
There are 2 sets of radios in GSM phones
1. Voice radio- these are the 850 and 1900mhz bands, that will work for voicer only, most of the newer phones in the last few years are quad band and this means the phones typically have these radio bands and will work to make phone calls, these can also transmit data on the Edge speed, which typically is very slow.

2. 3G Data radios. there are separate radios for data, for the 3 G speed and even the HSPA( 4G but not LTE), these typically have only 2 band radios, and these will be listed under the 3G/WCDMA/HSPA bands list, they also have to list 850 and 1900mhz for the phone to be able to use AT&T 3G data, otherwise you wont be able to use the 3G speed data.

The Exhibit 2 supports 3G data on both ATT and TMo

Thanks for the responses. Would unlocking it go beyond just rooting it? Also would the prepaid AT&T Avail have any advantage over an unlocked Exhibit II with the Strait Talk AT&T SIM?

Rooting doesn't remove a SIM lock. You have to get an unlock code from T-Mobile or a third party.

T-Mobile will give you an unlock code if you have been a customer for the last 60 days and the phone you want to unlock is currently active on T-Mobile and you either have account balance of at least $10.00 or a refill within the last 30 days.

The Exhibit II uses (and comes with) a regular SIM.

If I were to get my Exhibit II unlocked and I didn't like the straight talk AT&T service, could I put my old t-mobile sim back in it and use it the same as I am now?
