Got everything ported (30min) and stuff but my 3G is not working right, after reboot 3g will work for a few min then it drops back down to edge. Kinda pissing me off.
First off, not everyone carries multiple lines on their accounts. Secondly, do you get unlimited text and talk with 2GB of data without throttling? Somehow I doubt it. Even GoPhone is well above the cost with 1GB of data...and it is slower.
Not true any more, at least in my experience. I've been pulling pretty consistent 4-5Mbps down and 1.5-2Mbps up on a regular basis (3G). Also I recently noticed they are no longer throttling EDGE (they actually had the balls to throttle EDGE in my area previously) I can now get near 320K which is absolute tops for EDGE.
I'm just leery of the constant speculation over ST's data, and I really don't want a cloud hanging over usage. To me, I'd rather pony up a little extra for the data and not have to worry about using a few MBs too much one day or whatever and have ST breathing down my throat. I also use very little voice/SMS which would make it an even worse deal for me. To each their own...
EDIT: Forgot about the whole 'Customer Service' thing too. Have yet to hear a single person give any kudos to ST in this area. GoPhone at least has folks who speak English and I've never had any issue the few times I've had to call 611 to resolve an issue or whatever. Rock-bottom prices come with compromises.
Straight talk has great customer service through Facebook. Don't have to waste time on the phone talking to someone, just give them the info and away you go.
They didn't have a chance to port my number one night (it was around midnight when all my info and whatnot went through.) I didn't even have to ask them or remind them and they ported the next day when they were able to port from AT&T and the porting department was open.
Overall I've been incredibly happy with Straight Talk. I don't worry about data because I stay under 150mb's per day (don't really ever use that much anyway.) I can still stream pandora when I want and watch short youtube videos here and there.

I can live with that for $25 a month.
Except I don't use Facebook for "Customer Service". I want to speak to a real, live human who speaks ENGLISH on the phone. Maybe that's just me.
As for the data, I understand. If you can live within the "limits" whatever they may be at any given time, good deal. Personally I'd rather not have any "limits" to worry about, save for how much data I've elected to purchase. Whether I use it all in 24 hours or over 30 days that's my choice, not some arbitrary unknown who knows what it may be tomorrow type of deal.
Finally got ST 2 fix their problem byod working on iPhone. The apn setting r indeed the same as sim swap. I have Internet now where as before only talk and txt

Since you got your iphone working with ST BYOD, can you list what definitely doesn't work when switching from AT&T or T-Mobile? I know there's an issue with MMS...anything else? I'm seriously thinking about trying a friends iphone 3GS. -Thanks! Sorry if this isn't the correct thread for this question.

I hate talking to customer service... I don't mind talking to real people on the phone for actual purposes, but tech support/customer service is not one of them. If you like wasting time on hold, then trying to explain an issue to someone who may or may not be able to help you, then that's fine for you... for me, I can't deal with it.
And data... well if you don't mind paying more money for data that's fine. It is what it is. I can use 2GB's per month and have unlimited minutes/text for $25 a month. I was paying AT&T $70 a month for 450 anytime minutes, no text messages, and 250mb's of data. I can live with the modest limits straight talk puts on it's users.
After all, our cell phones shouldn't be used to replace our home internet connections. I can use a lot of data on a cell phone if I try because I feel like I need to get my money's worth, but for actual usage purposes, I don't use that much data.
That's the problem. You'll get a bunch of greedy bastards using over 2GBs a month and they'll cut them off and they'll complain about it. It's never enough for some people. I just hope this won't cause prices to rise/speeds to drop. I'd be more than happy with a 2GB hard cap a month and 3-5 Mbps.
I'm hoping people won't abuse this but I know it's going to happen.
I hope they do something like if you do go over they just cut your speed until next billing. I do not use the phone internet that much. Only time I did use it is when the home inter net was down and could not find the phone # for windstream. lol I do not even send many text call me old school but my way of thinking if it is importing they can call back.
So far everything works for me but mms on android. I done everything I know how to but still not working. Edit the file for the apn add a apn remove apn no luck. It just says sending but never does it.
I already ordered my ST sim and I find it hard to use more than 600mb a month as it is, so I doubt Ill have a problem. Its been a while since Ive had ATT service in my area but Im curious to see how it is.

Tracfone is not going to let data hogs stand in the way, nor derail their model plan for success. Tracfone is not the least bit squirmish about swatting the abusers with a sledge hammer.
I got my wife's AT&T iPhone 4 all set up with ST and everything is working except she can't send SMS to multiple people at once. Anyone else having this problem or found a fix? Thanks!
