you can do it all within a couple of hours. The # doesn't matter.

Step 1. Disregard everything DataDude is trying to tell you that will work if a rep feels like breaking the rules to do it and may get screwed up in the process because port #'s between lines on the same account isn't allowed, isn't something they teach and may turn out ugly if you get a rep who wants to try something they have never done before.

    REAL PROCESS
Step 2. Port in the # on the contract into your account.
Step 3. Port Out your current # to prepaid on Fido
Step 4. Port in your current(fido prepaid) # overtop of the contract # from Step 1
Step 5. Done, the contract will have your number on it now.

Also keep in mind if you have a good price plan right now you won't have it when you are done it will be the price plan that came with the contract but you can change it after the porting is done.

You just don't seem to get that the OP isn't trying to do a number swap. That's totally off topic for this thread. I have no idea why you even brought it up (and yes, you were the first one to bring it up, not WorldIrc), but since you did, and were misleading people, I thought I'd point out (as someone always does to you) that you're wrong. Ircu, you keep trying to scare people out of doing it. Others will keep correcting you. Off topic for the thread anyway.

OP, just disregard all this crap and see my first post or DennyCrane's. Porting to prepaid and back is probably your best option.

you are the only one who keeps bring up number swaps. the only person who is wrong here is you and it seems to be spreading to each of your posts.

Anyways I posted the way to do it as backed up by others. To the OP, it may take about an hour to complete.

You brought it up first, not me. Search the thread. Others will back me up that it works, but we weren't talking about that anyway. The OP doesn't need to keep both lines (which is the whole point of a number swap), so that's a moot point for the thread anyway other than that you were misleading people.. And you posted exactly the same procedure for the OP that I and DennyCrane did. I have no other comment to you. You know you've got a reputation here...

Ha ha, I didn't even know about that list until mid-way through my hiatus, since when logged in I have sigs blocked.

I feel a little empty now, since it seems I'm no longer worthy ; )

I'm sure you are still on her 'hitlist' but you aren't the main event anymore.

This is not the least bit complicated. No need to make it complicated.

    1. Take over the new account (put it on a different account from the one you already have).
    2. Walk into any Rogers store and request they do a "Port-In Telephone Number Change". They will ask you the phone number and postal code of the account you are keeping, and the phone number and account number of the account you are cancelling.
    3. There is No Step 3.

It is that simple. I have done it Hundreds of times. There is Nothing that will go wrong. There is No reason they can't do it in 2 minutes Max.

Totally agree. It can also be done over the phone as I described in my very first reply. The person who took my line did this and it took five minutes. Not even necessary to have a separate account number, though I guess it could confuse reps a little less if done your way.

All the other stuff Ircu was trying to bring up...number swaps and whatnot...totally unrelated and irrelevant to the thread.

Yes agreed. The separate accounts are not necessary, it will work either way. I just suggested it so as to avoid any possibility of a hassle. But ya its really quite simple, this thread makes it so unnecessarily complicated.
