OK, I got a Samsung Captivate, and had it running with my straighttalk SIM card in no time. Also got it unlocked and rooted, with much more effort. But even though it's unlocked and rooted, I still can't go into MANAGE APPS and get rid of all the AT&T crap on it. If I have superuser, shouldn't I be able to do this?
If you are rooted you can delete protected Apps with programs like Titanium Backup but unless you are sure you know exactly what you are doing it would be better to "Freeze" them first.
The apps will not run or show in the application but if you device all of the sudden becomes unstable you can just "unfreeze" any required app. You delete the app and find out later you needed it you will which you did this.
