I am thinking to move over to Virgin from WInd. I have never had my number ported before and am wondering which comes first - telling Wind to cancel the service or requesting Virgin to port the number.
By requesting to port in your number to Virgin, it will automatically cancel your Wind line. You don't need to inform wind. However, you will be charged up until your billing cycle. This can't be avoided.
when i was cancelling off of virgin, (i don't know if the same goes on with Wind) i cancelled and would still own my # for 120 more days before it was given out to another customer, thus giving me some time to find a new carrier.(;
Sprint transfered everything from my old virgin mobile phone(:
Number ports can only be performed on active accounts/lines. Example if your number has been suspended by Wind for non payment your number can not be ported, Porting rulus are the same with every provider in Canada.

My account is active, alright. The automatic charge to my CC has been set up. I'm more concerned that WIND somehow keeps charging to my CC. Cleaning up someone's mess takes time and energy, I think.
