    Incoming call issues

Has anyone experienced an issue on incoming calls where you answer the phone and the calling party can't hear you for about 5-10 seconds?

I guess nobody uses the calling feature of their cell phone enough to actually notice any issues these days.

nobody has seen this issue at all?

I don't make a lot of voice calls these days, but in those that I do I have yet to encounter this issue on Rogers.

Shouldn't this thread be in the Rogers forum? If there is an issue, it isn't likely to be a general Android problem.

Well I've isolated it to be on the android platform. I tried iPhone and a razr v3 and it never happens.

I've green using Android phones on Rogers for over a year and I've not experienced any such call problems.

I once had an experience with another person that was using an HTC aria on at&t. During a lengthy phone conversation the audio of the other person began to cut out in bursts of a few seconds to completely silent. We attempted to hang up and call back several times but all resulted in silence until their phone was restarted.

Call problems along with a slew of other problems are why I am not compelled to upgrade to an android phone.

As for your problem all I can say is android phones can be like windows PCs. Issues can arise which are oo difficult to locate and repair rather just start everything over again. Then again to avoid sounding too much like an apple faboy I will say the above can happen even to an iphone and a motorola phone which restarts itself the first vibrate after being turned on.

I used my Galaxy Nexus for well over an hour today without issue. Did you perhaps install an app that connects to yellow pages or something to look up contact info?

It's likely your particular device not android in general.

I have had much better faith in receiving calls on my gnex than my iphone 4 on rogers. The iphone 4 would miss calls without even ringing and was so bad at keeping a call with antenna gate that I can almost map the multipath fade in my condo while taking on it. It miss calls and drop them so often when I expect an important call I tell the caller ahead of time to call again if the first one doesn't get an answer and to call me back if the call drops.

Using gnex for a month now and it performs much better.

Ok so it sounds like my device plus maybe some app issue or something. Thanks for the info...just as an update, I've been restarting the phone every morning and the problem seems to go away. Must be a firmware update they did because I never had to do this before....that's all that's changed since so.....hmmmm.

    Thanks for the advice.

I have had that problem, when I was on android 2.3.3. That was a while ago and I believe it was when I was using an AOSP build (probably cm7 or Miui at the time). You would answer the phone and the other person could not hear you for seconds. In the AOSP builds that was fixed last March or so. Don't know if that was ever a problem on stock builds. Honestly it was really annoying at the time. I am curious what phone/android version you are running.
