Question Bluetooth makes phone redial last call

Other than "don't hit the button", how can I prevent this? Is there an Android app?

On two different phones (Samsung Acclaim and HTC Hero S) I've had people call me and said I've called them, when I didn't. Investigation reveals that I did, further investigation shows my Bluetooth is placing calls without any intervention from me from my pocket. Apparently pressing and holding the big, uber-sensitive button on the front redials the last call, and pressing it again hangs up. I once called a lady my wife bought some stuff on Craigslist 23 times. I'm not kidding.

Bluetooth's an LG HBM-520 in-the-ear Bluetooth earpiece I got on Newegg for $20, if that matters. It's fine otherwise.

OK, let's get the obvious stuff out of the way. DON'T HIT THE BUTTON! But, of course, my question is going to involve a little more detail. Why are you hitting the button...or are you?

That function is activated when a button press is detected...in other words an electrical signal. If, when the headset is laying on your desk, untouched, it automatically triggers a redial, with no intervention from you...well, that would indicate a fault in the headset, at which point the procedure involves warranty repair/replacement from LG.

If, instead, it's because you keep the headset in your pocket and you actually *do* keep pressing the button, then that's a different story.

So, what is the *source* of your problem?

    I bought this bluetooth earpiece:

    http://www.ebay.ca/itm/260757428528?...84.m1423.l2649

It has a sliding button where you can switch it off to prevent accidental dialing and conserve the battery. When you switch it back on, it quickly reconnects to your phone. I like to switch it off when I put it in my pocket.

Before I got this earpiece, what I used to do was after every call, I would dial the number that I wouldn't mind pocket-dialing: my calling card. I have a plan where I have 10 numbers for free and I added my calling card as one of them. No airtime was used and no one was disturbed. The other option is to call your voicemail after every call. It may cost you airtime though. This could be time-consuming and sometimes I would forget.

Or you can find a way to wear your bluetooth on a chain around your neck so that it's not in your pocket.

Sorry, I don't know of any Android apps to prevent pocket-dialing.
