unlimited text?

hi,

i am interested to get this becuase it seems the internet speeds will be fast. I am using simple mobile and yes the $40 plan i am capped at about 120 kbps. the only thing holding me back is that simple mobile has global texting and my GF lives in canada. so will i be able to text her if i switch to strait talk?

Only the Android phones operating on the Sprint network allow international text messaging. Text message use the voice circuits and do not use a data connection.

For international SMS you could always use Google Voice for iOS - or if she is on iOS herself, use iMessage. Or any of the various non-SMS texting apps out there.

thanks for all your tips. i am aware of most of those things. but she does not have data. so she would be limited to those apps wifi only text works best for us. so a simple answer to my question is that strait talk does not do text to canada?

If you get a google voice number (free), then have it forward to your cell phone, then she will text you just as she does now. It doesn't use data on her end. The texts would simply forward to your phone. I use this now whenever I text someone I don't want to have my actual phone number, like responding to something on Craigslist. They never know that they are texting to a google voice number, it just appears that they are texting to a normal number.

As I stated above, two Android phones offered by Straight Talk, which run on the Sprint network, allow international text messages. Since this thread is in the Straight Talk Forum, it is understood that my comments were about Straight Talk.

No it is not allowed. only exceptions are the 2 sprint androids on ST.
